My Fiancee and I stopped in to help out a friend pick up her jewelry (she was out of town and wouldn't make it in before they closed). When we rolled into the lot, we noticed the engagement ring photos on the outside and how beautiful they were. We weren't necessarily looking and had no intention of buying. Upon walking in, Courtney greeted us with a friendly smile and offered a drink (alcoholic or not). We were shocked and thought she was joking - she wasn't. We headed over to the engagement ring case and Courtney was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. We looked until the store was about to close, but we didn't feel rushed at all. After much back and forth discussion within myself, and with my Fiance, we agreed to go with the most beautiful wedding set we saw - completely opposite of what I had always imagined wearing.
After choosing the perfect setting, I wanted to find a more economical diamond for my centerpiece - Courtney and her Team managed to find one at 2/3's the price! AND it presented an even larger surface area on top, making it appear brighter for a fraction of the cost! We were thrilled for the savings and extremely grateful the James Martin Team would work within our budget when we asked them to.
Bonus fact: Not only did Courtney help with picking out my wedding set, but I also feel like my my late grandmother had a part in helping with the decision. It was the first or second ring I tried on ... it had two sapphires next to the gorgeous, center diamond. Blue was my Grandmother's favorite color. My Fiance and I noticed later that evening that we'd ventured into James Martin on the 1st anniversary of my grandmothers passing! It was fate, right? The perfect ring, chosen on the perfect day.
A+ to Courtney and Team for your insight and willingness to go above and beyond to ensure my ring was perfect!
Overall, this place is highly recommended and we will definitely be loyal...
Read moreOh, my gosh! The staff here was outstanding! My son had a ring stuck on his right ring finger. It was pretty snug and cutting into his skin. I had called prior to coming in and asked if they had the ability to cut the ring off. They assured me they did so we drove from Maquoketa to their store.
We were greeted so nicely and I told the woman (I’m sorry, I don’t remember her name at the moment), that we needed a ring cut off. Their jeweler came out and proceeded to start the tedious task (it was a thick ring made of stainless steel). When she needed a break a gentleman co-worker stepped in.
The ring had to be cut through in two different areas, but they eventually got the job done. My son saw a ring there that he liked, but it was too small. The jeweler was able to stretch it out, and she did a wonderful job polishing it. My son was very happy. We were also planning to buy a silicone ring in addition to the first one, but they gave us that one for free! Also, they didn’t charge us for cutting the ring off.
I will also state that my son is on the Autism Spectrum. He’s pretty high functioning, but this adventure was a challenge for him. All of them were so good at talking to him in regards to what they were doing, and reassuring him honestly, saying that whatever the next step was might be a bit uncomfortable for a bit. Their calmness helped my son. He trusted them.
I am so grateful to the staff. They treated us with care and respect. I truly am planning to go back and get a ring of mine re-sized (darn fat fingers!) and to purchase an additional...
Read moreI want to give a huge shout out and thank you to the group at James Martin Jewelers. I have always gone to them for the selection and care of my jewelry. But this was a very special item that I needed a custom design for.
I have arthritis in my hands and I needed to have my wedding set redone. I have had my Grandmothers engagement ring for 50 years. My Father passed away in March and I received his wedding band. With all of that in my hand, I arrived at JMJ and told Jason my story of the rings, and said I wanted them made into one special ring for me to wear everyday. Jason was the greatest - he listened to all my wants and dislikes. After working with different looks he drew up a design that I liked and we altered it until the ring was exactly what I wanted. Then all the steps that he went through to complete this custom piece was cool.
When I picked up the ring- my custom, sentimental, one of a kind design - it was everything I wanted. The whole staff there joined in my delight . When I reached the car I cried because I will always carry Dad and Grandma, and my husbands love with me each day. A wonderful experience. Great team to work with at James Martin Jewelers, I will tell everyone - that is the only place to go in Dubuque...
