An ENTIRE guide to DoReMi Karoke:
Before coming to this place I read every review about this place, and honestly I was a bit skeptical, however, I had an extremely positive experience here, so I figured I would write out one detailed review to save you the time of reading all the other ones, and telling you the things I wish I had read in the reviews before coming here.
LOCATION, PRICING & ATMOSPHERE: Let me begin by saying DoReMi Karoke is an entirely different store from DoReMi restraunt, but they are both somewhat across from each other in the same plaza. DoReMi Karoke is on the second story so that should make it easy to know youâre in the right place. I would make a room reservation ahead of time just because they are somewhat busy at night. Pricing is $20 FOR THE ENTIRE GROUP per hour up to a group of 5 people, and I believe from 5-7 people itâs is $30 per hour for the group, and I donât know the rates above that. That is EXTREMELY cheap, imagine you get a group of five people and everyone pays $4 each, what other event can you do for $4 for an hour??? Thatâs literally the price of a Starbucks drink. Onto the place itself; It was very nice upon entering and staff greeted me immediately and since I reserved a room they brought me right back to it immediately even though we were a little over 10 minutes late. They spoke clear English and were very polite, kind and willing to help at all times. The rooms themselves are very big and clean and they come with a nice sound system, a nice massive couch/sitting place, a big table, disco lights that come on immediately when the song starts, sanitary microphones & a tambourine đ.
MACHINE SETUP: So when you go in the controllers have all the buttons in Korean, however, all you have to do is walk out of your room and up to the desk and ask for help with your controller and they will show you how to switch the controls into English, and it is not confusing at all to use once it is switched over. I will say, type your first song in the search bar from the remote thing on your table and press the big blue button to start it, then after the first song, press the red button on the controller ATTACHED TO THE TV when youâre done with a song and it will give you your score then you when you find your next song look at the number next to it in the book and type it in on the controller attached to the tv and press the green button when youâre done typing the number. This is how we did it and it worked every time for us. I know this sounds confusing, but it is not complicated whatsoever when you get in (two 18 year olds figured it out) but I figured I would spell it out just in case you get in and are not sure how to work it you can return to this review.
SONGS/SONG CHOICE: The majority of the song book is in Korean, however if you flip back to about 3/4 way into the book they have all the English songs in a section with the tab labeled âpopâ. They have a MASSIVE amount of English songs, I sung for 2 hours and did not even get through a small fraction of them. And as far as the QUALITY of the songs goes, I was pleasantly surprised. They had songs as recent as probably 2-3 years ago. They have EVERY genre in there, from rap with A$AP ROCKY, Drake, Nikki Minaj, Chris Brown, Beyonce, The Weeknd, Frank Ocean, Rihanna, R. Kelly, Usher, and many more, to Classics by Rick Astley and Frank Sinatra, Pop with Ariana Grande, PiNK, Imagine Dragons, Calvin Harris, 5 Seconds of Summer, Ke$ha, and so many more, and a wide selection of 90s music& early 2000s music (one of my favorites was Every Morning by Sugar Ray). I will say just a general advisory the songs do keep curse words and the n word in so just be aware of that if you are coming with children. The machine gives you a score at the end of each song, based on how well you hit the lyrics I assume, and at the end of your time it shows a leaderboard with which songs scored the highest, so this adds a competitive aspect to it if youâre into that.
OVERALL: I feel cheated that Iâve lived here all my life and I didnât know this...
Read moreLet me start off with I hate I have to give the 1 star. PLEASE BELIEVE ALL THE PREVIOUS NEGATIVE REVIEWS. I wish we listened and saved OUR money. Why is this location still open???? This is the biggest scam ever!! If you donât want anyone but Koreans there just say thatâŚoh technically you canât because it would be âillegal â huhâŚ.Racist is not the word to describe the female that runs the cash register. She told us 1 price for the drinks and when it was time to pay it was a different price. She acted as if she didnât speak English at first and when it was time to pay she had no problem speaking or understanding it then. Money talks huh??!! Now when it comes to the food DO NOT PURCHASE she was quick to say we serve Korean foodâŚduh itâs a Korean karaoke place we are at please know we expected it. The wings were not of a chicken. Pigeon wings is an exaggeration because they were tiny, and for the price it most definitely should be a crime. I thought it was a joke when she brought the plate to the room. Now back to the drinks, after telling us the soju was $5 a bottle and us getting 6 of them we found out at checkout they were $13. When asking her why she LIED to get sales she repeatedly said oh sorry, sorry with a fake grin and her eyes closed. Sorry?? Sorry, miss maâam you are not sorry in fact you are rather pleased with overcharging and lying to get our money. You really feel good about tricking people to get their money? That is horrible!! Just know itâs many other karaoke places and in order to continue to make money it takes satisfied customers. The same ones that you run off because YOU are racists are the same ones that can and will boost your business. You get more with sugar than salt. Reviews do not lie and I took the previous reviews serious but still went against my better judgement. People if you are not Korean give these people what they want and do not go. I donât even understand why they are even in America if they donât like us and if the owner actually cared they wouldnât have her as a face for the business because she is not a help for them or their business, unless they in fact are racists as well. In order to still allow that woman to be on the front line dealing with people who pay you (keep your business going) speaks volumes on your end knowing all of the negative experiences people are having with the same woman. The other lady was the same way also I just did not have an interaction with her. I saw how she was with the other people in our group and it was...
Read moreI'm Korean, I speak fluent Korean, and I took my 11 non-Korean friends here for a birthday party on January 2025. I do not recommend this place and here's why:
Google Reserve The Google snippet shows that you can use Google Reserve to reserve the place. I received a reservation confirmation but had to call to ask if I can adjust the number of people from 10 (the highest number Google could book for) to 13. As soon as I called the representative complained that I had used Google Reserve instead of calling on a busy day (if you don't want folks to use a service available readily online, please just take it off?).
Confusing Communication I booked 4 days in advance. When I arrived, the cashier told us the wrong room number. We walked in on another group's surprise birthday. When I went back to tell them the room was already full, they said "Oh, I thought those were your foreigner friends" (yikes). So they hurriedly got a new room for us, and the cashier mumbled "You didn't book ahead of time so..." I used both Google Reserve and called them. They still didn't have my name on file.
Misleading Pricing When I asked for the total price for 2 hours for all 12 of us, they said it was $70. When we got the bill, it was $70 per hour. It's just a miscommunication, but please don't tell customers the wrong price. They only split the total bill evenly 4 ways max. We had 12 people. We all ordered various drinks. It's fine if we could all receive an itemized bill for the total but when they printed it out after I specifically requested for the itemized receipt, the cashier said "Oh, you can't take this receipt with you. I have to keep it." (huh??? it's a receipt)
TL;DR: Don't recommend, if you need to book here always call, don't use Google Reserve. Ask about pricing and the menu when you arrive to not...
