Finding a 24 hour place that is not fast food anywhere near us is very rare, but we made the online search anyway even though we had little hope. And that is how we found City View Tacos. Still a bit of a drive for us, but totally worth it. Yes, they don't hand out napkins or even plasticware, but the food more than makes up for any of that. Just bring your own. The place is tiny so expect to eat outside or in your car. They have five meat choices - Beef Fajita, Chicken, Pastor, Barbacoa, and Picadillo - and we tried three of them. We avoided the Pastor even though pork is normally our favorite because the menu said it was spicy. We have upper midwest taste buds and prefer much less capsaicin then the average Texan. The Barbacoa (in a quesadilla) and Chicken (in a burrito) were perfectly mild for our tastes and very delicious, but the Picadillo (in a burrito) was very spicy for us. Still, the flavor was awesome, so we powered thru the burn anyway. That is saying a lot for us. I actually want to get another the taste was that memorable and good. I'll just get a little extra cheese and sour cream next time. I also want to try the Pastor now, spicy or not. We are definitely going back. The tastes were so fresh and good. Some of the best Mexican food I've ever had. I'm not an authority, but we go out of our way to sample every big or little Mexican restaurant we can find and have been doing so since we moved to Texas in the 90s. They deserve their new little reward (even if the boss being on the phone made us wait to taste the food). ;) Also, considering the quesadilla or burrito give you more food than the average diner burger meal, and it looked like the tacos do, too, the prices are perfectly cheap! We got way more food than two people needed and it only cost...
Read moreHadn't been in here in a long time due to their meat being way over cooked and tough. Attempted to try them out again today by ordering some burrito bowls. One veg and one with meat, both were SUPPOSED to be double rice. I also requested GRILLED onions. I made the mistake of not looking at my order before I left. Once I made it to my destination (which was basically up the street), I saw that one bowl was very skimpy and both seemed to not even have the REQUESTED double rice. The basically consisted of mostly what to seemed to be loaded with the cheapest of iceberg lettuce, tons of unevenly cooked onions, and meat that would take a person ten minutes to chew. I took off majority of the lettuce and meat, trying to eat around it but instead decided to call in about my order. I explained everything above. Also, that I wasn't looking to get a refund. I just wanted my order made properly. The person I spoke to on the phone said to come in so that they could replace it. Once I got there the lady said that she couldn't do it, because it was "a little less than half". I reiterated that the bowl was skimpy to began with and that I had disregarded a large amount of meat along with lettuce. She then said she "had to call her owner". At this point I figured that my order wasn't getting corrected. She hops on the phone with the owner and he/she says don't replace it. I told her AGAIN that the order wasn't made right portion wise or texture, but she didn't care. This will be last time patronizing this "establishment", due to their dismissive customer service for lack of a better phrase. TRUST ME THERE ARE MUCH BETTER STREET TACOS AND ELOTES IN DALLAS!!! DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME...
Read moreI waited in line for an hour for my food until I got to the front of the line. They hand me a bag of cold food. I went up to the window and asked for a remake, attempted to hand the receipt over to the girl and it flew towards her as they had the A/C on. She exclaimed that I threw the receipt then told me they refuse to remake the food over on the offense and they will give me a refund only. Then, they wanted the food back, which I refused after they accused me of disturbing the peace. They took my card and said they will refund me while they held it for 20 minutes until the police showed up all of a sudden. The police got in my face and told me to tell the truth about a video showing I threw the receipt at her or there would be consequences. I told them to watch it. Then the cops come back after "reviewing" the video. They then told me that the teens said my card was declined when I just used it. I called the bank and they told me essentially that the merchant can release the preauthorization charge with no evidence if they want. I figure the teens released the charge on my card before the cops got there. The bank said they kept putting my CVV code in wrong making that error come up. They said they had no evidence that they charged me for the food.
If you are Black and don't want the police called on you for cold food and be accused of assault by a receipt, stay home.
BTW the employees were not properly wearing their masks preparing the food, They should watch the camera for that since they like to watch it.
This situation could of been dangerous with the current...
