This place is a gem!! My friend and I had the best Sunday brunch experience!! They have only been open for almost couple of months and you have to stop in! Don't expect a strickly traditional Guatemalan bakery, the name is a nod to the chefs heritage, but you can expect amazing food! I was so blown away by the food, the decor and the people!! It's a family owned and operated restaurant-their enthusiasm and friendliness restores my faith in humanity! We came in after the morning brunch rush and had the place to ourselves so we got a secret off menu item that can be ordered on off hours when they aren't packed for breakfast. They have a waffle flight. You heard that right!! Waffle FLIGHT! It was the highlight of my whole day! We also ordered a chicken wrap that was so good, I'm still thinking about it a couple of days later! I also love plantain chips and these were so crispy and perfect! I loved talking with the husband and wife duo, they are incredible people with so many wonderful ideas and aspirations! I can't wait to see where this journey takes them, and I can't wait to...

Xela Bistro in Duncanville, TX — My New Favorite Brunch Spot

I stopped by Xela Bistro in Duncanville this weekend and tried something called The Porky — easily one of the best brunch plates I’ve had in a long time. The egg was cooked perfectly, that just-right balance where the yolk melts into the waffle. The walnuts caught me off guard in the best way, they added a quiet crunch that tied everything together. And the ham? Sweet enough to play nice with the waffles without taking over.

Everything about that plate just worked. You could tell whoever made it cared about balance. Not too salty, not too sweet, just harmony.

The vibe inside matches the food. Xela Bistro has this calm, neighborhood energy. You walk in and it feels like a place that knows exactly what it wants to be, relaxed, local, and good at what it does.

If you’re looking for brunch in Duncanville, TX or searching for a new Dallas-area breakfast spot, this one deserves a try. Seriously, The Porky alone makes the trip worth it. 5/5 — would order...

Although we haven’t had a chance to try the food just yet, we’re already incredibly impressed with this new addition to our community! Xela bistro deserves five stars for its heart and mission alone. Their focus on serving and supporting our youth is exactly the kind of intentional investment that strengthens neighborhoods and inspires hope.

The owner’s personal story is nothing short of inspiring. It’s proof that this isn’t just a business, it’s a purpose-driven space. With a chef inspired menu that changes throughout the week, there’s clearly a creative and thoughtful energy behind everything they do. We also love that they offer a private meeting room.

We’re proud to support a place that’s not only offering something fresh and exciting but is also rooted in making a meaningful difference. Can’t wait to come back soon and experience their menu.

They are located where A Play Cafe...

The name Xela (Sheh-lah) caught my attention as my family originates from Guatemala. To no surprise the owner/chef has roots that also originate from Guatemala. The waffle descriptions caught my attention and they were all delicious. The Tamal waffle was my favorite out of the bunch. The Mr. Bloom was very close to first place as well. Now let’s talk about lunch! The Green Chapter was amazing!! Highly recommend this place for great food!! Had a chance to try the waffle flight the variety is amazing!! Though the owners did mention they offer it when it’s not too busy. Staff were very friendly!! Very cozy space!
