Boulevard Diner — Restaurant in Dundalk

This Diner is really good. The food was excellent with big portions for not a huge amount of money. Becky our server was absolutely fantastic! She was warm and friendly. She always smiled at her customers and was very attentive making sure our coffee’s and waters were full, and we were happy with our meal. She checked on us frequently without disturbing our conversation or meal. The food was authentic Greek cuisine as well as straight diner comfort foods. Several of the dishes on the menu had notes that those dishes were on the food network. I’d give this place a 5 star rating all day long if it hadn’t been for the employees behind the hostess stand. I put my order in and seconds later I realized I forgot to ask her to substitute my fries for hash browns. There were three ladies behind the hostess stand, a server with long dark hair, an older lady that I was told later had been there for lots of years and the thin tall hostess who was very friendly and attentive but had to walk away from me to seat some guests. I wasn’t impressed when I was standing there, the 2 ladies were talking to each other, saw me looking at them from the other side of the counter they were behind… but refused to acknowledge me at all. They simply acted as though I was not there at all. Because my career for the past 30+ years has been in fine dining restaurant management, I know what people should be doing and saying to give excellent customer service and, this was a big drop of the ball in my opinion. I was in a little bit of a hurry to get my message to Becky before she put my order in but, I could see that the ladies were going to keep talking to each other rather than me therefore; I had to interrupt with “Excuse me…” You would have thought I spit at them both the way they looked at me. If looks could kill, I would not be able to write this review right now . They didn’t say “Yes, can we help you?” They just stood there looking at me like I was being rude for interrupting them!! That should never be the case when a customer comes from a table and walks up to the front to ask a question. That incident put a big damper on my review stars. Becky has been there for 16 years and is the perfect example of stellar customer service and friendly warm interaction with the guests. When the hostess returned to find the other 2 looking at me like I offended them, she asked what she could help me with. I told her, and she was just as friendly and willing to help me get the message to Becky. She didn’t have even a trace of attitude, just pleasant vibes. It’s a shame that happened because, I really thought my server, the hostess and the delicious food deserve a five plus rating!...

Went to try their pizza they had just recently advertised on fb because it looked delicious. No where did I see it was in Wednesdays only. That could have been overlooked by me. However we went in and was seated at our table. We waited a very long time just to tell our waitress what we wanted our drinks to be. When she took down what we wanted to drink ,I mentioned I didn't see the pizza in the menu . She said that is only on Wednesdays. So I had noticed they sold sour beef and dumplings. So I asked what sizes they were. The waitress told me they came in 2 sizes but tell me the actual size it would be. So she went to get our drinks and take our order but took a longer time then usual because she was so busy worry about her other customers who already had their food and or needed refills etc. Meanwhile we sat for longer then usual times to get our drinks and put our order in. So when she came to take our order,I asked what was the best choice between cheese steak or Italian cold cut because their Italian looked delicious with the banana peppers on them . She said both were good. I asked for banana peppers to be on my sub only to be told they don't put them on their sub. Ok fine,I still chose to order it the way a traditional Italian sub would be. I got and it was plain tasting buy average tasting and it didn't have the traditional Itlian cold cut sub lunch meat on it. The price wasn't cheap either. I also ordered the sour beef and dumplings to go for my Mom who loves it. Again ,it wasn't cheap. It was a decent bowl size but I noticed it only had 2 dumplings to the whole serving size. I also asked for a Coke to go with that to go order. She never gave charged me for it be cause she forgot to put it on the bill. When I saw only 2 dumplings, I said to her only 2 little dumplings ? She replied," O don't know." She never asked or suggested to see if that is all you get for that serving size or never said we you like to order extra dumplings ,etc. It wasn't the best experience I have had nor the worse . It was just high side of cost for the kind of food along with the quality and service. Non the less we tipped good has always but I an sorry I did go to Vinny's...

Decided to stop today in a Diner we always drive by in Dundalk . Entering we were greeted by Elvis music and a life sized statue of him on a guitar. The manager came over and helped get us seated . We were sat and began our order .( pictures to follow). The kids ordered chicken tenders and fries and two ordered kids hamburgers and fries . I ordered chicken parmigiana off the lite menu and French onion soup . She decided to order grilled chicken , baked potato, broccoli and a salad . One complaint my daughter had as well as a few other people was the tea wasn’t sweet enough to be sweet tea . We had to add sugar to the tea mix to get it right. ( sugar shakers were on the table). The salad and soup came out approximately 2 minutes after we ordered our food . It wasn’t long after the food was delivered . The kids enjoyed their food . Except one burger was actually a bit over cooked . She enjoyed her food but wow there was a lot of it . My chicken parmigiana was good also. The kids meal came with ice cream or chocolate pudding the menu stated but when we asked the waitress about which was better , she stated that the kids meal only came with ice cream . So we pointed that out on the menu. She then got an attitude because the kids wanted chocolate pudding . My pudding was good and the kids enjoyed theirs also . Bathroom was clean . Parking is free and plenty of it . Over all the prices aren’t bad for the amount of food we got . But with the attitude of the waitress at the end was uncalled for .
