I recently had the pleasure of dining at Chicago Ramen Algonquin, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere, setting the stage for what would be a memorable meal. The Tsukemen, a unique ramen dish served with hot broth and cold noodles, was an absolute standout. The broth was a symphony of flavors, with a rich and savory base that was perfectly balanced. The addition of fresh lime to the cold noodles was a brilliant touch, creating a delightful contrast that elevated the dish to another level. Each dip of the noodles into the broth was a burst of flavor, making it a truly enjoyable and interactive dining experience. Moving on to the other ramen offerings, the red miso ramen was a revelation. The deep umami notes of the miso broth were complemented by a medley of tender vegetables, creating a harmonious blend of flavors and textures. It's a dish that caters to both the palate and the soul, offering comfort and satisfaction in every bite. The vegetable ramen, too, was a delightful surprise. Often, vegetarian options can be lacking in depth, but not at Chicago Ramen Algonquin. This bowl was a celebration of fresh, locally-sourced vegetables, each one cooked to perfection and immersed in a flavorful broth that left a lasting impression. Now, let's talk about the gyoza. These delectable dumplings were served with a sauce that was simply divine. The gyoza themselves were perfectly crispy on the outside, giving way to a savory and juicy filling. The dipping sauce was the ideal balance of sweet and tangy, providing the perfect accompaniment to these flavorful bites. The service at Chicago Ramen Algonquin was top-notch, with attentive and friendly staff who were more than happy to assist with recommendations and ensure our dining experience was impeccable. The ambiance of the restaurant was also noteworthy, with a cozy and welcoming atmosphere that added to the overall enjoyment of the meal. In conclusion, Chicago Ramen Algonquin is a gem for ramen enthusiasts and food lovers alike. From the Tsukemen to the red miso ramen, vegetable ramen, and gyoza, every dish is a testament to the culinary excellence you can expect here. I highly recommend giving this new establishment a visit; it's a culinary journey you won't want to miss.

So this is our third time here since they opened. What to can say for certain is the shrimp dumpling ramen was amazing - absolutely delicious. I was blown away. Sushi was just ok, chicken bun was good, etc. That said, the main problem with this place is the service. Oh my God it was awful. We came in for lunch on a Wednesday around 1. As I’m writing this sitting in the restaurant, it’s 2:05 PM and we are still here. It took forever for anyone to come to our table and they only did after one of us walked up to the server to come to our table. She seemed completely spooked, and when she came to our table, she was incredibly non verbal and English was very limited. I had to actually point to everything on the menu. Keep in mind, I don’t mind doing that if the person is engaging and they actually seem like they want to be here. They very much just seemed scared the entire time. She never once came back to our table. The food was delivered by someone else. The gyoza we ordered never came and I had to ask the manager to please remove it. He didn’t apologize at all. The entire time we’ve been here the server has been sitting down at the counter, eating food and not doing anything. We had to flag the manager down multiple times to bring a to go container or the check. All in all, it was a very awkward experience and I honestly don’t think we’ll be back. The bill was also $85 for three people and it’s the first time in years that I didn’t tip at least 20%. I tipped 15%, and I felt gross about it, but honestly, the service was so bad. Every time I tried to get the attention of the manager, he had headphones in, and he just kinda looked at me like I was bothering him and annoyed. He didn’t smile a single time and just looked miserable. It’s a shame too because the food was good for the most part. As we were leaving, one of the people with us went into the bathroom and found a pair of Samsung earbuds that someone had left behind. He brought them to the manager, said someone left them here, and the manager didn’t say a word, just took them out of his hands and walked away. Who does that? Your mileage may vary, but yeah, it was not a great experience.

Hands down the worst restaurant experience we’ve had in a very long time. We’re big fans of ramen, often visiting the Northbrook and Palatine locations, so we decided to try the Algonquin location after a long day out. When we arrived, there was no AC, and it was very warm inside. Despite this, we stayed and ordered 4 waters, 2 cokes, two red miso ramen with egg, a kids' ramen, and a chashu hot dog. A few minutes later, the waitress told us they were out of hot dogs, so my son ordered the chicken bun from the kids' menu – only to be told they were out of that too. He gave up and ordered the kids' fried rice. We waited quite a while, and still, no drinks arrived despite the heat. The food finally came out before the drinks, but the chashu in my ramen was cold, and my son’s fried rice was barely 1/4 cup in size – so small we questioned if that was actually the portion size. We had to get up and find the server because we had no drinks, and we had been served cold food. The service and food were incredibly disappointing, especially compared to other locations. The waitress wasn’t helpful and didn’t bring me a new miso after I mentioned the cold chashu, as if she didn’t think I actually wanted one. I ended up watching my family eat while I waited, with my husband sharing his food because my son’s rice wasn’t enough. When my ramen finally came back out, my family had finished eating 15 minutes earlier, so I took most of mine to go. To top it all off, when the drinks finally arrived, they only brought 3 waters and 1 coke, still missing a water and a coke, and then the server disappeared again. Unfortunately, this location doesn’t meet the standards of the others we’ve enjoyed. We won’t be returning.

writing this after the 3rd time going there and im afraid to say it might be my last. first of all the service gives me the heebie jeebies. place was also rlly dirty with a lot of flys flying around the place/my meal. first two times i went there, chefs kept staring at me and my family while we were eating. ok no big deal...i guess. food was still tasty so why not go there again? 3rd time was actually awful. right when me and my mom went in, no one said hi, sat us down, gave us menus or water. we had to find out own tables and grab our own menus. already pretry weird from the start, but i didnt care. i just wanted some ramen. one server in the kitchen kept looking at everyone sitting down, while not coming up to us to take our meal, it was pretty weird. it was only after 10 min someone came and took our order, but the worst part was it took half n hour for our meals to arrive. people around us were leaving, some with full meals aswell. family in front of me left right after they found hair in their soup, and one guy rubbed his nose with his bare hands before serving us water. my ramen was pretty good, but my moms meal didnt make her satisfied. she got a meal with soup and cold noodles seperately, but the noodles were really uncooked and the soup was beyond SALTY. literally to the point where she didnt eat anything, i felt so bad for her. when she asked if she could get a different order they said it would take three min, it took more than 10 min so we just left while only paying for my meal. overall this place was odd from the start, really disappointed that it wasn’t what i expected. would probably suggest to go to the chicago ramens in the actual city/schaumburg or literally find a different place cuz theres better ramen shops than this. algonquin is kinda whack, pls...
