They should call this store you break it, I break it even more. I DO NOT recommend bringing your electronics to UBREAKIFIX. Due to an incident at work, the glass corner of my iMac was shattered so we brought it to the Algonquin location for a screen replacement. After first pickup, the screen installation appeared to have no issues but fan was very loud and overworking itself. I bring it back, they tell me that maybe it needs more thermal paste because they don't touch the inside when doing a screen replacement (I knew this was wrong because this computer is only 1yr old). I get a call for the second pickup and I am told that it did not need thermal paste and that the technician had failed to connect the fan sensor properly. My boss picked it up on a Sunday and when I walked into the office Monday morning, the screen was hanging off only attached by some wires. They did not put additional adhesive after pulling the screen off to check the fan. Because of this, I had to be as careful as I could to put the screen back onto the computer until the store opened and this ended up cracking that same corner. I brought it back for a third time to be worked on and finally had more adhesive added so the screen wouldn't fall off. Because they did not directly crack the corner, they of course quoted me for an additional $300 or so (on top of the $525 I payed for the screen replacement) to fix the corner that cracked due to their carelessness. In the end, the corner of my screen is still cracked, I have glue residue on the computer where it shouldn't be, additional marks on the aluminum under the screen from having to remove the screen 2 times in addition to wasting my time, money, and energy. Due to their policies and warranties, none of this will get me any sort of refund. Customer service was no help and so far for the 2 chargebacks I did, the CC company sided with UBREAKIFIX. I would have been better off keeping the original damage before bringing the computer there. Do more research and bring your electronics elsewhere to get the job done right...

Here is the ordeal (If in hurry - summary is at the bottom): I called to verify the store hours and repair time for my cracked screen. I was told they had my screen in stock (they did) and that it is a 2 hour repair. I arrived at the store about 4:25. WAIT, this review is not going there...I'm NOT going to tell you that the phone wasn't ready on time. The manager first tells me that my phone doesn't have a warranty to cover the repair (it does.) I literally had to have him read the Samsung Care warranty info from my phone. Once he acquiesces that I MAY have a warranty, he tells me I need to call Samsung and get him a claim number. At this point the manager walks into the back room. It's now 4:35 maybe 4:40 and I am greeted by a really great employee, PATRICK VELEZ. Patrick is very helpful - I give him the claim number and we are waiting for something to show up in their computer to show that the claim was approved. After waiting a while, he offers to call someone at uBreakiFix HQ while I call back Samsung. Fast forward to 5:15pm and Patrick learns that there was a step that needed to be initiated from THEIR end, not Samsung's. It's at this point that the manager tells me I need to come back TOMORROW. (Remember it takes 2 hours to fix and it is now 5:15pm.) I tell him no problem, ask when do you open...After telling me 10, I say, great - I will see you at 10am! He then asks if I can do 12pm.
In summary...I left work early to get there in time to have phone fixed TODAY...the manager doesn't know what he's doing and delays the whole process and then doesn't bother offering to see if one of his guys could maybe stay an extra 15 minutes to help me, but instead asks me to come back at a time inconvenient for me, but...
Read moreWhen my internal plug was no longer turning my laptop on I decided to check out uBreakiFix after seeing their shop in Arlington Heights /Rolling Meadows area I now came across the larger stroefront shop in Algonquin. I was impressed as to how they have grown from a small shop to an outside mall. This says alot to me . Good service gains good rewards. I first met with Quin who inspected the charging port and ordered the part . Once the part came, Quin called me and explained to me that when the port stopped working it effected the motherboard . Worried about cost he quoted me a reasonable price and I had the part ordered. It took a little longer for the board to arrive , and within a day my laptop was back up and running. We discussed the battery which I had stopped using a long time ago basically because it would get drained after a couple of hours . Quin educated me on the importance of having a battery for a faster running system . I put it on hold until today when I came in to pick up my laptop and had the pleasure of meeting E.J. who I let put it on order for me. E.J. even made it easier for me to pay the balance upon arrival of the battery .Thank you E.J. and to the other man who was working today with E.J. who's name I did not learn thank you as well for helping us look up the model number to order the battery.
