My husband & I stopped here as we were coming through town after a friend recommended it because the Brass Lantern had closed. We’ve been going to the Brass Lantern on our way through on vacation for the last few years but we we’re assured that this place would meet standards. Well, if it was the standards for not giving two flips bout Covid-19 then they were absolutely correct! This place could not possibly have been operating at 50% capacity as is required for the state of N.C.!!! We were stuck at a table in the middle of the restaurant surrounded by other patrons at hardly an elbows distance away! Some of the waitstaff weren’t even trying to pretend they were wearing masks - and the male server we saw just plane ole wasn’t wearing one! - I didn’t see a single patron walk in already wearing a mask & when we walked in the whole place stared like we had three heads! Was even shocked to see they were serving a salad bar, which I know N.C. has not approved of any buffets being open - but the least they could do was make it mandatory for guests to wear a damn mask when getting their salad! For almost $9 for a single trip to the salad bar and you aren’t even protecting your customers health and safety?? Our waitress was Sarah, who we remembered from the Brass Lantern and one star goes to her for at least attempting to wear the mask! Though after witnessing the cooks in the open part of the kitchen continuously take theirs off, wipe the sweat off their heads/faces & then keep working without washing their hands was enough to ruin our appetite. Also noticed there was no sirloin on this (rather expensive for the atmosphere) menu - which we thought was very strange as they are advertising as a steakhouse. My husband went to order a NY Strip, which we were promptly informed they were out of. Again, a steakhouse that’s not serving any steaks!? He ordered a ribeye which they may as well have called a fat steak. It was nothing by gris. I ordered the fried shrimp & after just a few bites had had enough. It didn’t taste like anything more than frozen dinner shrimp. We both left our leftovers, which we never do, especially after paying almost $60 for a meal. The other star comes from the bread, which was obviously ripped off from the Brass Lantern & just made miniature. At least you’ve got that going for you. My husband and I have made the decision to 1) never eat here again, as you can get better safety & standards at your local McDonalds 2) To report this restaurant to the BBB for making it very obvious that they do not care about the health & safety of their customers, their employees, or the small town where they reside. 3) Stop traveling through Dunn anymore, this small town used to be so charming, now that the brass is gone we see no reason to...
Read moreBring back the old Heaths. Went tonight. Haven't been lately. I was excited to go. It was extremely busy , no problem we would enjoy the fellowship and conversation. Server came to the table ( Sarah ) got our order and walked away. Another ( more experienced server brought my drink) , great team work. After a long wait ( expected since it was busy ) , my entire order was wrong. We eventually flagged down a different server and told her about the situation. She removed my plate, asked my order and went to place it. While she was at the server area I saw her tell Sarah about the mistake. She ( S) never came to the table to apologize, tell us my order would be right out, nothing. She just walked right past us. Not long after my plate came to the table. Prime rib ordered medium. It looked good and I was ready to eat as my table were already eating. As I cut into it blood poured out. Ok, I'm hungry so I move to a differnt section that looked to be alittle more cooked. Same thing happened. As i lifited it off the plate and blood ran out. Our server still had never came to our table again at this point. I was just going to take it home and cook it. My table mate called the same server back over to tell her about it. She said it was just the juice from the meat, no it's actually severely undercooked meat and that's blood pouring out. Everyone was almost done eating at my table so I didn't want a recook or a new plate. Our server still never came to the table . We eventually called a differnt server and asked for the bill and eventually with no drinks on the table our "server" brought our bill. I was suprised to see we were charged for a large salad bar when i ordered a salad as a side to my meal and barley ate any as i was saving space for my entre. As a server for 25 years and someone who has taken pride in serving my community in one aspect or another for many years during and after id be embarassed for myself and for the establishment that i represent, to have clients leave with such dissapointment and not atleast offer my most sincere apology. It will be awhile again before i go back and will not recommend to no one in the near future. Im...
Read moreWell I must say I was disappointed with my visit. We were celebrating a birthday and thought this would be the perfect place to go too. It had very good reviews but for us things did not go well. It was a Tuesday night so we were surprised how busy it was. The place was packed. The hostess wanted to seat us right next to the salad bar where there was a very long line of people and we literally would've been right up next to people constantly walking and standing next to us. Luckily I noticed a booth off to the side and said could we please sit there. Thankfully she did. We waited a long time before anyone came and acknowledged us. Service was slow but they were very busy so I let it slide however you can only let it slide to a point. We ended up being there for 2.5 hours. By the time we left it had cleared out. Trust me we didn't want to be there that long. The food was very average. I feel the food is just as good at Golden Corral. I was expecting better for what things cost. There were 3 of us and we only had water to drink and my son and I had a 10 oz rib eye my daughter in law had a strip steak. We also had the southwestern spring rolls appetizer. Our meal with a tip came to 137.00. We also did not like how they had a sign saying only one trip is allowed at the salad bar and no take home. If you are only allowing one trip to the salad bar why are you not allowing people to take any leftovers home? My daughter in law who didn't quite finish her salad did ask if she could put it in her to go box with her few pieces of steak she had left and the waitress did indeed say no you can't take that. To us it just seemed wrong. The salad came with the cost of the dinner. We paid for that. I could understand their rule if it was an endless salad bar but it's not you can only go up once. Also the prices on the menu have changed. Everything we ordered was about 25 cents higher and yes you're going to think you're complaining about that? To me it adds up and what the prices listed on the menu are should be what you are charged. This was our first and last time we will be eating here. Definitely...
