I went in with my parents for dinner yesterday evening. We noted that it was busy, and sat down at a booth. The table had been cleared, but hadn't been wiped down yet. A young woman came by a few moments later and slammed napkins and silverware down on the table as she passed, neither acknowledging us nor slowing down. As she approached, I had pointed down to the table to get her attention to let them know that we needed it wiped down, but she went by too fast for me to speak. She came back to the table a few moments later and began to furiously wipe the table down, her entire torso flat on the table. She grabbed condiments at the end of the table, moving them to wipe underneath, and flinging leftover bits from the table all over me and my parents. I quietly said, “Seriously?” She replied, “Seriously. Can you not see how busy we are?” She then reached down between my mother and I, and over my dad’s lap, to retrieve the flung debris from our benches. She demanded our drink orders. My mother asked for iced tea. The server looked at me, asked, “Tea?” Then she glared at me and asked, “TEA??” when I didn’t answer fast enough. A different young woman came to the table a few moments later and crouched down next to us to ask for our order. There were no menus at the table, so I had gotten up to get them from other tables. I asked the second server the first woman’s name, and she told me it was Suzanne. I told her we weren’t ready to order yet, and the second server left the table. A few moments later, we heard Suzanne yell her own full name out to the restaurant from the kitchen. Her last name begins with an “H,” in case there is more than one Suzanne employed there. I don’t feel it is appropriate to include her full name so publicly. Soon after, she arrived at our table, repeating her name to us so loudly that the entire restaurant could hear. She yelled that she was the head waitress, the name of the guy at the register (Toby?), and that they were super busy. I told her not to come back to our table again--at least twice, because she kept yelling over me. Instead, she stayed exactly where she was, continuing to holler at me that I could complain to whomever I wanted. My parents walked outside while I went to the register to pay for the drinks that we’d barely had time to touch. The man behind the register looked up as if he had not been aware of what was going on (how he couldn’t have heard Suzanne yelling is beyond me) and asked if everything was okay. I said no, that it wasn’t, and that I wanted to pay for our drinks. Suzanne came up behind me, yelling over and over that no, no, she’d pay for them, and throwing money from her apron at the guy behind the register. I joined my parents on the sidewalk outside to decide where to eat. Halfway to our cars, we heard Suzanne yelling again. She was outside, arms spread wide, propping the door open with her foot, screaming at us that if we wanted to come back another time Tuesday and Thursday were great. I am intimately aware of what it’s like to be so frantically busy at work that you just want to cry. On the most stressful and horrible of those days or nights I have never, ever thought it appropriate to speak so abusively to another human being. That Suzanne is “head waitress” is further disappointing. She obviously feels comfortable enough to openly and loudly insult and abuse the people who are there, in part, to support the business by whom she is employed. She obviously feels that throwing a temper tantrum and screaming at customers isn’t something that would risk her job, and I doubt this is a first for her. I just can’t fathom it. It is incredibly telling of a dysfunctional culture at Jim’s. I will not patronize a place that supports this kind of behavior, and won’t go back because of it. We always liked eating at Jim’s, and were happy to wait patiently. All Suzanne had to do was take a deep breath...
Read moreI went to Jims Seafood on today. I’ll start with the waiter, she has AWESOME HOSPITALITY, which was on point the entire time. Now on to the complaint, as we checked out paying for our meal, the gentleman behind the counter, which is one of the guys on the pic catching fish (with a beard), HE WAS SO RUDE, WHICH WAS UNCALL FOR.. He spoke to us so disrespectful, Addressing my sis as a DUDE.. So after I addressed the fact that he called her a dude, he begun to get really offensive and ready to Argue. I was just letting him know that wasn’t professionally... She was advising him that she did not like the Lemonade and wanted to know if he could take it off her check.. he wanted to argue and ask “why not just ask for another drink”. First of all, she asked for a water with her meal and got a lemonade to go, she sipped the drink right before paying and didn’t like it.. After trying to explain to him why she did not wnt the drink he kept wanting to argue, making a scene (So Embarrassing) and then said “JUST GET OUT”.. I HAVE NEVER BEEN PUT OUT OF A RESTAURANT OR EVER BEEN TREATED WITH SO MUCH DISRESPECT IN MY LIFE, Especially AFTER SPENDING MY MONEY THERE!! I WILL NEVER GO BACK IN THERE AGAIN TO BE MISTREATED THAT WAY.. I’ll Also make sure I pass the word on to my Family and friends letting them know how he mistreated us, so they can take thr money elsewhere. All he had to do was stay professional with LESS ATTITUDE AND NOTHING WOULD HAVE ESCALATED... AND IM SURE THIS ISN’T THE FIRST TIME HE’S been Rude to anyone!!! HIS...
Read moreMy ex-wife worked in seafood Restaurants on Ocracoke Island before we got married. She knew how to cook seafood. I know how to cook seafood. I am familiar with portions and prices at the outer banks. I helped my former brother-in-laws in the commercial fishing business for nearly 25 years. I have eaten seafood at the outer banks more times than I can count. Jim's seafood is properly cooked with adequate portions and probably 30% cheaper than other major Restaurants. I have eaten a lot of seafood and their seafood is in line with top outer banks Restaurants. I have eaten at the Lone Cedar in Nags Head on many occasions and at 42nd Street Oyster Bar and I would be just as satisfied eating at Jim's as either of these establishments. Some people complain because they're cheap and want something for nothing or they are just ignorant. I would and have recommended Jim's to any one and have taken friends there and they liked it. I usually try to sit where Tiffany will be my waitress but if not I get good service from Suzanne. I've never had bad service there I just know these...
