This is a Chipotle-style burrito place, with a much more extensive menu, because they serve nachos, pozole, tacos, and a few other things you wouldn't find at Chipotle. The way they prepare the food is just like at Chipotle; you stand in line, order what you want, and you pay after that. However, if you come in through the wrong door (the place has 2 doors, one facing north, the other facing south) like I did, if the place is as incredibly as it was when I visited it (a Sunday at 5:00 p. m.), and you have never been there, it's not easy to figure it out, and there are no signs to guide you. You feel lost because the clientele seems to be all locals (you can easily tell) who know the place and how it works. The menu has a $6.50 (online, but it's $7.00 at the store) price for a "base burrito"), which seemed to be just the flour tortilla, beans and rice. If you ask, they look at you funny because nobody asks, since everyone there is a local and knows the place. The explanation I was given didn't help much, it was like "everything in the first section is by the scoop, everything else you have to pay for it", so, to clarify, I pointed to the second section and asked if I would have to pay extra for that, he said "no". Very confusing, because the menu reads "with veggies or meat, $13.80", so it seems that you have to be careful not to ask for things that would the base $7 burrito into a much more expensive $13.80 one. Since the place was so incredibly busy, I understand that the employees were not at their friendliest, but still I did not feel welcome or appreciated as a customer. When I told the cashier that I had signed up for the rewards program online so I wanted to know how it worked, he said kind of exasperated "I have no idea about their rewards program". [Update: I have been to this place about 4 times now, while I have a better opinion of the staff now, the cashiers have been consistently rude to me. I don't know how the tips are distributed, but I feel like leaving no tip every time because of the way the cashiers have treated me]. I would have given the place 2.5/5 stars but I like that they have pozole, the industrial theme of the building and its outdoor patios (one upstairs with great views, one downstairs), and the food is good (3.5/5, or maybe a 4/5 if their pozole is good -I didn't try it, I ordered a base burrito and the nachos libre- if I were to rate only the food). However, the treatment by the employees left much to be desired. Oh, and the owner needs to buy something to control the many flies that land on your food and the rim of your cup if you're not swooshing them away constantly. I may go back sometime, I will think about it but nobody will get a recommendation to go eat there...
Read moreGosh! Hate to post or acknowledge this but I’ve always been a fan. The past several visits have been horrible! Over cooked fish (wait time was 20mins)but ended up being 30mins(trust me we are regulars). I loved the margis but the past couple times geez. Eeh. I’ve asked for the reg margarita and got the jalapeño margi.. which doesn’t go well with my burrito. I didn’t want to say anything ONLY because of the huge line out the door to the parking lot, AND I know the feeling! However, I’m a local. And locals also matter!
Not only the past visits have been just however! But we wanted to host our engagement party. Apparently our families have to be MAJOR alcohol drinkers in order to host and cover the space needed.I don’t think if this was an underage event this wouldn’t be the case. Just saying!. I was more than welcome to pay the extra charge of food to increase the qty to feed OUR FAMILIES! ONLY because we thought (2) tacos wouldn't feed ones belly! EVERYTHING was a charge, soda (not the zuberfuzz) which was fine. I added nachos but was told to add more chips and add queso. (So this really isn’t nachos) 🤷🏻♀️Sales rep Reply was “just add chips and queso” Like no package or some sorts! Then we ended our convo from Carley “WE PROB ARE NOT FIT FOR YOUR PArty”
I was like ok.. so your not willing to host my event? Type of feeling or even talk about it more?! Idk anyways. In speaking to many Venus I’ve encountered about hosting MY engagement party and possibly catering for my wedding is a HELL no! I’ve heard a lot of feed back from diff venues about Zia catering.....
Read moreCame in this afternoon, Friday August 4 at 3:40 pm. Ordered online a few minutes beforehand and selected “ASAP.” Once I went inside the place was almost dead on a weekday afternoon. They hadn’t started my order and said they would “put it in and get started” now that I was there. A couple walked in after me and went through the counter, paid and got their food. They proceeded to not make my burrito and just hang out and talk. I was like maybe they’re making it in the back???? And was patient. Then another couple came in after I had been there for 10 mins and began to go through the counter to have their food made. Then they got a tortilla out and started making mine, but kept leaving it there to do other things or chat. I had to ask them several times to finish making my burrito. Whole thing took 25 minutes for a 3 minute burrito build. I’m disabled and it cost me a lot to wait there in pain. That’s… why I ordered online.
If you’re not going to begin making an online order (that is requested ASAP) until the person arrives to pick up their food, the LEAST you can do is then treat them like an in-person order and make their food for them once they come in. Why did I have to also wait behind in-person orders that walked...
