Went to have a drink an enchiladas the sign outside read $5 margaritas. We ordered four Margaritas in an enchilada plate. At the end of our meal the bill ended up being $44.62 meaning that Margaritas were not $5 mind you we asked him before ordering the drinks where the Margaritas $5 and the owner chewy replied yes. On the receipt a margarita was charged for $7.50 for two and $6.50 for the other two. Me and my friend were upset about being lied to so we left no tip on my receipt which I put zeros and left only cash for the tip. Where I made the total amount of $44.62 my friend left the tip in cash but I was alerted by my bank that there was fraud on my card that there was extra money taking out from my card from this restaurant when I went up there to ask for the receipt, he changed my four into an eighth. He didn't try to argue with me about it but did explain that he thought my four looked like an eighth I went to show him that my 8's don't look like that and I would never write an eighth the way that it was marked on the receipt. The owner gave me the $4 back in cash I will not be using my card here ever again and I advise others to only pay in cash when dealing with...
Read moreWe've heard really good things about this restaurant, and were really excited when the chips and salsa were really good, however... We both ordered tamales with sour cream sauce and stuffed with chicken, at first glance we could see something wrong. The sour cream sauce was thick like old gravy, turns out it was just sour cream mixed with maybe flour, uncooked and then put on my food, it was horrible. The chicken inside wasn'tuch better, very dry and hard to chew. I tried the beans first, so did my wife, she compared it to dish water and I had to agree, the rice wasn't bad though. The people were generally nice and tentative, the restaurant though like the food didn't encourage food consumption. There is a bar on the other side of the restaurant, like they split the building, they must use the same ventilation those because all I could smell was old cigarettes, aside from the foul smell in the corner of my booth against the wall, it smelt very close to a park urinal. I don't usually give one stars, and it's a shame because the people were so nice, but the food was not edible, we had to leave after the first...
Read moreSo... We used to love this place. But it's been a little while. I heard a rumor it's under new ownership and I don't know if that's true. But... It just isn't what it used to be.
In the past everything tasted and looked fresh, was colorful, vibrant, alive.
Used to be delicious real breaded chicken strips for the kids' meals, now it's spongy "McD's nugget" type ones. The tamale was extremely salty due to whatever sauce they put on it (which salty overwhelmed any other potential flavor if it was in there). The ground beef in my tamale, enchilada, and taco tasted extremely sub-par... I might've had better at "The Bell." The yellow queso tasted like plastic as did the lettuce.
The iced tea and the chips were good, salsa was okay, and fries while not as good as previous, are still fairly good.
Service was prompt, friendly, and efficient still so at least there's that. But unless I hear of a pretty serious turnaround in the food I'm not likely to be back anytime soon.
Bring back what you had going on before in food and you could maybe win my heart again. You're better...
