This is the best food of its kind for the price in Durant, OK. There is even a meat and vegetable market inside, with treats in refrigeration for purchase. But there are problems around this tasty food.
The orders come quickly enough, though most every plate of food is ran through the microwave before being brought out (as seen clearly just inside the kitchen, if you choose to look). This is neither good nor bad, and is probably common practice - but doing it right in front of the customers is a bad choice.
The servers are generally attentive, though I have gone meals without refills on drinks. And there is a risk of being ridiculed in Spanish as a diner, in my experience.
Took a Spanish-speaking American friend to eat on Christmas Eve and paid for his meal. "All together," I said handing over my card. The waitress, now working the register, asked, "Together?" while pointing between myself and my friend. "Mm Hmm," I replied. She tilted her head down and looked up at me funny, held back a laugh, but let some out. She said something I didn't understand to her fellow waitress and the Hispanic fellow standing to the side waiting for a to-go order. They laughed and each threw out Spanish sentences amongst the humor. The fellow asked if I could speak Spanish. I said, "No, but he does," referring to the friend beside me. The laughter stopped and a strange look came over the waitress' face.
What I'm getting at is, this probably isn't a safe place for anyone wishing to avoid being misconstrued as homosexual for buying a friend's meal -- and so I have to assume isn't safe for anyone actually homosexual. Look elsewhere if you want to avoid being made fun of in Spanish in general.
I'm personally going to stick with Salita's...
Read moreI placed an order in person for take out. 10 tacos, 5 cokes, and a large container of beans and rice. I even said just enough for five people. I paid for my order ($60) and once it was brought to me she said here were my tacos, and container of beans and rice. I left to take the order back to work so my staff could eat. While I was getting everything ready for my staff I realized the single tray was only beans. I figured this was a simple mistake so I called and asked to speak to the lady who took my order. The gentleman on the phone unprofessionally asked “What do you need?”, so I explained the situation and he said, “oh I’m sorry you can come pick up the rice.” I went ahead and ate first before our food got cold then made the drive back to Panaderia and spoke with the lady who took my order. She basically told me that there’s nothing she would do and said if I wanted rice I needed to pay again, even though when I placed the initial order I clearly said a large container of beans and rice. The price doesn’t bother me, it was the fact that they messed up my order and told me they’d take care of it over the phone and once I got back there they sent me away unless I paid again. I don’t recommend this...
Read moreWas here a few months ago and thoroughly enjoyed the place. Great food and great service. Went yesterday and was really shocked by the lack of service, understanding and the food. Got there when they opened at eleven a m. The place was already crowded with a large party of twenty to twenty five. Most mexican restaurants serve menudo only on the weekends so I asked if they had it as it was not on the menu. Was very excited when the teen waiter said yes, we do. My dining companion got his order of carne asada right away. I waited and waited for my menudo which turned out to be about a thirty minute wait. Before it came, I had to drag it out of teen waiter if it was frozen and he said they have to microwave it. I think he must have misunderstood me in the first place because I eventually received a bowl of greasy bones. I don't even think it was menudo. Of course, my guest was already finished with his meal and I was just sitting there. Ended up leaving there without having any lunch at all. It is really sad because I really liked this place and told my friend about it and it was a...
