As someone who is currently interning and has been trying new food places, I saw this restaurant and decided to place an order (as I had been craving a Philly cheesesteak for the past 2 weeks and wanted to venture outside of Jersey Mike’s). And Let me just start off by saying O-M-G!!!!! I ordered online, and the food was ready on time just as I arrived (about 25 minutes.) I ordered the Philly cheesesteak sub and a Philly Stromboli; my friend ordered ziti pasta with a side salad, and boneless wings (garlic lemon pepper.) All of it was AMAZING!! The Philly cheesesteak sub was perfect, I added mushrooms and jalapeños (just a personal preference), and the vinaigrette sauce was such a PERFECT addition, it brought all of the ingredients together; the sub reminded me of a restaurant from my hometown that closed years ago (found out the owner actually worked at that same restaurant during his college years). The Stromboli was also DELICIOUS, i think it’s my favorite thing that we ordered. I added banana peppers to mine just because I knew it would tie in very well, it was super cheesy, but not overbearingly cheesy (because too much can sometimes ruin a stromboli.) Another thing, Don’t let these reviews fool you, that ziti pasta was also GREAT!! It had lots of flavor, and you could tell it’s a house-made tomato sauce. 😋 The only thing I would complain about is the saltiness of the seasoning on the wings, but I think that’s just because we got garlic lemon pepper lol. The customer service was 10/10, the owner and lady on the register were super nice and we had a nice conversation as my friend was waiting on her food to come out. Overall, I would 100000% recommend this restaurant, and I will be going again before I leave Durham.

I wish i could give this place 10 stars. We came to this place as a family, including my 72 year old dad, from queens. I chose this place because it looks exactly like the hole in the wall places they have in NY, and i wanted to give my dad a bit of nostalgia. The authenticity of the food and the pizzeria experience brought tears to his eyes. He chewed every bite with his eyes closed. He actually cried a little as all his memories came back. My husband, from Long Island, was eating this food like it was the best thing he’s ever had. We had a NY Large meat lovers, and I’ve never even SEEN a pizza this size. Dear god it was huge! And the crust was so thin, so airy, so, crunchy and delicious- just indescribably good. I had the eggplant parm, and it was the best I’ve ever eaten. The sauce was superb, fresh, and like- light and hearty at the same time🤌🏾😭 I’ve never had sauce like that before, and i don’t even have any heartburn as i usually do. My sons all had wings with the pizza, and there was literally a smol confrontation between them about the last one or two. Not an afterthought at all- YOU MUST HAVE A CANNOLI AND A SLICE OF CHEESECAKE. NOT OR- AND. Trust me on this. Don’t play with it. Get both. I could go on and on, but one thing is clear: this place is an absolute DIAMOND in this city. Please cherish it, support it, and love it for what it is. The man making the pizza is FROM ITALY- like he’s still learning English. Holy smokes this food was amazing.

Cleanliness: 4/5. Guy flipping the dough for my pizza wasn't wearing gloves and I was a little put off by that. However, the dining area was clean and orderly. Tables were spotless. The bathrooms were spotless as well which was very nice (especially for this area). Service: 4/5. The guy that took my order at the counter was very curteous. He had a smile, and a genuinely kind attitude. I wanted to leave a tip and he said "That's okay. I'm just happy you came in" which was nice to hear. He did cut me off to answer the phone which I found a bit curt but I wasn't bothered by having to repeat my order. I had ordered a large Deluxe pizza with garlic knots for takeout. It took about 15 minutes to receive. Quick! Price: 3/5. While the pizza is good, I find the prices to be a bit exaggerated. Due to the area (Duke University) I guess thats to be expected. It was $32 for 1, 16-inch pizza and 6 tiny garlic knots. Good thing is, the pizzas good and filling. Quality: 4/5. The shop gives off a 'New York' type of vibe with its narrow alleyway-like dining area and tiled walls and floor. The pizza (claiming to be New York style) didn't remind me of anything "New York". The dough was thick and crunchy, not maleable and foldable...while the toppings were in fact, very 'New York' esque. I liked it, but I didn't agree with the high price. I would definitely come back though.

Let me start by saying I have lived everywhere from AK to AL, so I have eaten Italian food in numerous states. Furthermore, in AK, the owner/operators of the Italian restaurants are from the "old country", so it doesn't get much more Italian than that. My husband has also traveled far & wide, including overseas to Italy, (8 times), & has lived in the food mecca New York City, so he, too, is use to good Italian food.

Devil's Pizzeria is nestled in a long line of "hole-in-the-wall" restaurants on Ninth Street. Restaurant was long & narrow, like all of the restaurants down there, but it was clean, & had a surprising number of tables.

Owner/Operator Ziad greeted & assisted us. He was friendly, patient, & helpful. My husband ordered the 8" Philly Steak Sub ($8.78 w/ fries & jalapeños), & I ordered the Spinach Calzone ($7.99). The food was cooked fresh, & was brought to our table by Ziad himself.

The fries were your standard, frozen steak fries. However, were hot, very CRISPY, but not overly so, were not over salted, & we received a plate full. To me, the fries, although a small part of the meal, spoke volumes about Devil's Pizzeria's attention to detail.

We didn't have to ask for ketchup, because there was a large container of ketchup already on the table, and it was full, as were the bottles on all of the other tables. Again, a small item, but an attention to detail that is appreciated.

My husband asked to have jalapeños added to his Philly Steak Sub. This was no problem for Ziad. In addition, the jalapeños were raw, unpickled & were cooked into the the steak, onions, & cheese, so the jalapeño flavor was infused throughout the entire sub. Most places use pickled jalapeños, which ruins the flavor, & they add it at the end, like a condiment, so you only taste it when you bite into one.

Furthermore, my husband lived in New York City for a long time. While there, he ate many Philly Steak Subs, from multiple vendors. He stated he had never eaten a Philly Steak Sub that tasted that good. He said the bread was very light, not soggy, & tasted extremely fresh. He said all of the flavors melded together beautifully, with each ingredient complemented the others perfectly. It was a flavor explosion in his mouth & he loved it.

My Spinach Calzone was delivered on a metal pizza pan, the size of a small pizza, & covered the majority of the pan. I was overwhelmed by it's size, & concerned that I had just ordered the equivalent of a loaf of bread. Yet, I was hit by the delicious smell of buttery garlic coming from the glistening buttery garlic wash on top of the calzone.

In my first bite, I found the calzone to be comprised of very thin bread coating, which was as almost as light & airy as a croissant. Ziad told us that he makes small batches of dough throughout the day, so their dough related items are always light & fresh, & this attention to detail can definitely be tasted in the food.

There was a large amount of fresh spinach, which was a nice surprise, because most places use canned spinach, which makes the calzone very watery, & leaves the bread soggy. There was also plenty of ricotta, mozzarella, & romano cheese, in perfect proportions, keeping the sometimes overpowering fresh spinach flavor, from overwhelming the dish. Flavors were exquisite & unmatched by any calzone I have ever eaten.

Devil's Pizzeria has a full menu, including: pizza by the slice, various flavors of hot wings, subs, calzones, pasta, strombolis, chicken tenders, salads, & traditional Italian desserts. They also serve untraditional sides: like cheese fries, jalapeños poppers, & Jamaican beef patties, to name a few.

Whether you are like Italian food or not, Devil's Pizzeria makes exceptional food, has great prices, large portions, & a menu that has something for everyone. If you do not take time to try their food, you will have missed out on what I consider to be the best restaurant in the...

Devil's Pizza offers an exceptional halal pizza experience that stands out in both quality and taste. From the moment you step into the restaurant, you're greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The decor is modern yet cozy, making it an ideal spot for both casual dining and special occasions.

The menu at Devil's Pizza is impressive, boasting a wide variety of pizzas that cater to diverse palates. Each pizza is crafted with fresh, high-quality ingredients, and the halal certification ensures that every option meets strict dietary standards. The signature Devil's Delight pizza is a must-try, featuring a perfect blend of spicy beef pepperoni, succulent chicken pieces, and a medley of fresh vegetables, all on a perfectly baked crust.

What sets Devil's Pizza apart is their attention to detail. The crust is always crispy yet tender, and the cheese melts to perfection. The sauces are flavorful, and the toppings are generous. Whether you prefer a classic Margherita or a more adventurous combination like the Inferno Special, there’s something for everyone.

Service at Devil's Pizza is top-notch. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and always ready to accommodate special requests or dietary needs. Orders are served promptly, and the presentation of the food is always appealing.

In addition to pizzas, the restaurant also offers a variety of sides, desserts, and beverages that complement the main dishes well. The garlic bread and cheesy breadsticks are particularly delightful, providing a perfect start to your meal.

Overall, Devil's Pizza is a fantastic choice for anyone seeking delicious, halal-certified pizza. The combination of excellent food, great service, and a welcoming ambiance makes it a standout in the crowded pizza market. Highly recommended for pizza lovers...
