Hibachi 88 — Restaurant in Durham

My husband and I have been fans of this place since it opened. The prices are cheap and the portions are large (and delicious!). The staff have always been kind and I love the rewards card they have.

Recently, we hosted a large get together and needed a nice meal idea that wouldn't be very expensive (and wasn't the usual Pizza or Fried Chicken). I decided on Hibachi 88 and it was the best decision ever. The staff were easy to work with - letting me customize some of the options on their catering menu (yes! they have a catering menu!). They took the order around lunchtime for a same day, evening pickup. They also threw in an extra salad just because. They even helped me load my car.

The catering portions were supposed to feed 6-8, but were so large, they easily fed close to 10-15 each. At ~$50 per portion (includes chicken, veggies, and a huge container of rice) you're looking at less than $5 per person.

Plus - the food was a hit. Many folks offered compliments (thinking I'd made it myself haha, I corrected them and handed them a menu :))

On our first visit, our hostess (cashier) was very helpful, patient, and honest. When the two of us ordered the more expensive special entree items, she gently reminded us that unlike regular hibachi entrees, special entrees feature primarily broccoli as a base vegetable, whereas the regular hibachi entrees came with vegetable sides in addition to fried rice. I personally like broccoli, but ultimately decided to share both a regular and a special hibachi entree in order to get the best of both worlds. Great service, very competitive prices, excellent service, and tasty food! I even added 15% tip to my order because I noticed they were using some sort of scanner for credit cards, which smaller businesses usually have to pay for. Honestly, if you've read this far, just go in. This review sounds too good to be true, I know. Decide for yourself if you would like to remain skeptical and distrust this review. The rest of us will be enjoying incredible cuisine at great prices just...
