Jimmy John's — Restaurant in Durham

I visited here because they had just hired my son and he finished his orientation at this location, so I decided to grab a bite from the front store. I don't remember the menu from prior visits, but I followed my son's impeccable taste for sandwiches and ordered a large Italian. I don't remember the name, but it had something like four Italian meats, onions, tomatoes, and lettuce. We asked them to prepare it "Jimmy John's Way", which is mayonnaise, oil, vinegar, and some spices.

The sandwich is so large, I ate half the sandwich the first day and saved the other half for the next day. Both days, the sandwich completely filled me up. There were complex flavors, the meat was notable and delicious, and the onions, spices, and tomato rounded out the flavor while the lettuce added a nice crunch. While I chose the white bread, when I've returned to other Jimmy John's, I've switched to the whole wheat roll. It adds a special flavor and touch to the sandwich. In an interesting note, my son and I had trouble keeping the meat and fixings inside the sandwich. Yeah, go figure! Every bite we took, the meat and fixings tended to slide out of the sandwich. Not sure this can be fixed, but I don't remember eating any sandwich from a chain restaurant (Subway, Jersey Mike's) where this happened. Must be a thing with JJ's.

In the future, I've decided to forgo the tomatoes for two reasons: 1) they didn't blend into the flavor like I thought they should have but stood out a little too much. (Surprisingly, my son, who likes tomatoes, agreed.); and 2) I'm not a fan of tomatoes, but I do eat them if they complement the flavor, but since these tended to be a little overpowering, I didn't care for them.

Placed an order at 10am on Wednesday for delivery and never received it. Called at 12:20 and they said it would be delivered at 12:45. Called again at 1:45 and they said it'd be delivered at 2. At 2 they said it was delivered but we never received it so I called them, they were extremely rude, hung up on me, and I had to call them back multiple times. Order finally arrived and it was 1 out of 8 sandwiches that was on the order. Finally left work to go talk to them in person and they refused to give a refund, said it was because they were understaffed and were backed up on orders, and I was told that they'd look at the call logs to figure out who I spoke with on the phone that said the order would be delivered at 12:45. A few minutes later the Manager told me they actually don't have call logs and that whatever employee told me that had lied but again refused to apologize for it even though the employee was standing right there. Had to call Jimmy John's Corporate HQ to speak with them about this and finally get a refund for the order that never arrived. Do not order from this Jimmy John's as it's extremely inconvenient, customer service is terrible, and will take a lot of time out of your schedule as they'll refuse to refund you for something you...

I'm was blown away by the level of respect this location has for their customers! So, I initially placed an order for delivery in our new home in Durham, NC. After the order they told me that we couldn't deliver there. It was ok, our address was out of reach. No biggie! So we placed it for pickup 14 min away. Once we got there the delivery driver took the order to our house anyways without notice. 0_0 what! The manager was upset about it but came up to me with a positive additude on making this right. He offered to make our order again. So we accepted. Once he handed us our $30 order he mentions the order was on the house! 0_0 I was willing to pay the full amount card in hand.
