My first time visiting was on Thursday, but it definitely won’t be my last!! The Milkshake Factory - Durham is an inviting and well-kept shake shop with a wonderful menu of shakes, sundaes, and homemade chocolates. We were greeted by friendly and smiling faces of the “shake-masters” as I will call them. Kendall was an incredibly nice and engaging shake-master that was fun to talk with and he helped me decide on which shake to try. He even clued me in on the dairy-free options and I will say my dairy-free milkshake was a 10 out of 10! You are also able to sample their in store, freshly crafted chocolates and they were delicious as well.
It was very cool to celebrate a couple of family members’ birthdays over delicious milkshakes! Everyone (about 12 of us) greatly enjoyed their shakes and sundaes with declarations to come back again. The shop’s location is directly across from the American Tobacco Campus (on Blackwell St.) and is nestled between the Durham Bulls stadium and the DPAC area. Good seating options indoors or outdoors. I highly recommend that you put the Milkshake Factory - Durham on your “must do” list and become a new fan like...
Read moreVery busy after bulls game and very loud. So loud and crowded we went outside. We both had bananas foster shake. It was just okay and we were disappointed due to high prices and i dont mind a price if its good eats, but if you want charge more what you serve should match or exceed that price. We watched them make it and can say they started with unripe slightly green bananas yuck. You have to use ripe banana in shake or ice cream. Also he only put a small smear of caramel around the inside of the cup before adding the shake which made it look like a lot but was actually very skimpy. Had a astringent taste from the use of unripe bananas. The cup was only 2/3 shake and huge pile of whipped cream on top with no caramel on top. Looked nothing like the picture on the wall menu. Have to say the plain whipped cream was the best part. We went in with high hopes for a great homemade shake. What we got was very disappointing and likely will not go back. Being busy is no excuse either. In the end a overpriced banana shake, forget saying...
Read moreMilkshake: Love that the mix-ins are blended and distributed equally and the straw is just wide enough and consistency is perfectly suspended to make eating through the straw work well without things settling to the bottom. A must-try contender for best milkshake around. Great story behind the sourced chocolate too—this isn't just a stand-up milkshake place. They are definitely chocolate-first and detail oriented.
Location: worth stopping by every time you go to a Bulls game or downtown activity—perfect spot, right by the stadium.
Parking: if there's a game going, best free parking if you can't find a street spot is just south of HW147 on Morehead Ave. Just a short walk...
