This is the 4th time between myself and my daughter that we have gone to The Dog House and asked for a side/cup of cheese and the employee has said no plastic containers for the cheese.Today I ordered the tailwagger which includes 2 hot dogs and a fry.I asked for another regular fry so my daughter and I could split the meal but back to the cheese at the order area the employee said there were no plastic containers. I asked if they could place 2 two sides of cheese in a cup and she said the cup would melt the hot cheese. I get to the front and asked about the Styrofoam cup would actually melt with cheese and she said no but it would be 1.00 for the cup.i asked her to ring me up for the cheese and the cup and somewhere in there ,a conversation I missed she and the other employee must have decided not to sell me the cup and cheese. She gave me the tailwagger as well as my tea.asked why she didn't ring me up for the cheese and cup she said she was not going to argue about it..My question being why should we the customer have to pay extra for something they don't have in stock(1.00 Styrofoam cup because no plastic containers in stock).she went on to say she is not getting fired over I'm not sure what but I asked her to ring me for the 1.00 cup and the cheese which was another 50 cent..I let her know I need another 50 cent scoop and she proceeded to tell me she is not messing with me about the cheese. AND YES 1.50 FOR NOT EVEN A SCOOP OF HOT CHEESE..LOL Issue here is I was willing to pay because again this is shared between myself and my daughter. There was a great deal made over some cheese that she wanted to play gatekeeper over.I don't know why we feel sometimes we have to dominate situations rather than use good ole customer service with a smile.Businesses aren't what they used to be that is for sure! I hope management reads this and come us with a sensible solution, maybe increase plastic containers sent to...
Read moreAs a local, I grew up going to the dog houses all around Durham, great place to get a hot dog at a good price and they are always consistent and friendly. I just left this specific location and the lady at the speaker/window was very rude. I had a simple but somewhat larger order, 8 hotdogs, nothing crazy added or extra, she yells at me through the drive thru speaker they only have a 6 hotdog limit for drive thru. There is no sign posted nor has this ever been said/ posted before, fine. I go to the window as she so “pleasantly” requested, after waiting a short time, she comes to the window and just said “card or cash?”, I reply and pay, even leaving a tip. A couple of minutes later, I received my food and as soon as I grabbed my bag, she slammed the window shut without receiving the receipt I requested. This is the first time in about 10 years or so I’ve received unfriendly service from this location. When I visit, i typically interact with the manager and other team members who are very...
Read moreI give it 2 stars only. The service was great. There was good parts about it. The hotdog buns were perfect and the service was great. The wiener was cooked perfectly. But the chili there has no taste what so ever. I was kinda disappointed when people said they had the best hotdogs in town. The only thing that added flavor was the ketchup that they gave me. They also gave me too much ice and not enough sweet tea so it was gone in a instant when I drinked it. The sweet tea also tasted like dish water. There was hardly any flavor to it also. I understand the employees work but the owner of the business needs to have homemade chili instead of the store bought one. Homemade would be so much better. The tea needs improvement also. I’m not too sure about the other meals but I sure hope they’re better than what I had because what I had was a...
