The Phone Customer Service was wonderful when I called to reserve my ham, She and I share the same name. She was very polite and conversational. I reserved a 4-6 lb ham and the order number was sent to my email. Once I got to the store the line was really long. I wasn't informed about Curbside Pick up when I placed my order. However, that was ok. I expected to wait. Once I got inside, there were no signs directing Customers who reserved online. So I wasted 10 minutes in the wrong line. Once I got up to the Counter is when everything went down hill and I received the worst Customer Service probably in my lifetime. The Cashier never greeted me, she acted as She was doing me a favor. I told her that I reserved a ham and gave her my order number. She rudely talked over me and asked for my name and phone number when I gave her my order number. What is the point of an order number, if it is not going to be used to find your order? She couldn't find my order and then I was told they had to glaze some more hams. I was like, I thought it would be ready. So I had to tell her what I had reserved. She goes in the back and comes back with a Turkey and rudely shouted to me, did you order a Turkey? I told her for the second time "No I ordered a 4-6 lb bone in Ham. She goes in the back again. She comes back out and shouts "did you order a boneless ham"? So I told her for the 3rd time what I ordered. By this time I was getting agitated. It take's a lot to get me agitated in public. It's COVID-19, I wanted to get in and get out. There was no social distancing in the line on the wall that I was standing in! This was a Large Caucasian Woman. I did not get her name, she starting getting loud and agrumentive towards me. To the point that her Co-worker had to pull her to the back to calm her down and let her stay there until I left. She was about to cause a scene. Your Employees should not be working in Customer Service, if they can't greet the Customers pleasantly. She should be Thankful to have a job. I have no job, so $60.00 for a small ham was out of my budget to be treated rudely! The ham was delicious, HBH is the best! However, it is a gimmick to get me to the store with no clue of how much my ham would be! It was worth it for the taste but not for the rude shade of Customer Service! I want my money back or a coupon for money off. If I decide to visit this store again! I felt discriminated against. And we as a people are always the bad guys!...
Read moreI ordered a tray of honey baked ham slices, which equates to a pound, for my New Year's day meal..... Delicious! UPDATE: The previous post was 8 months ago. Things have certainly changed! I visited HBH earlier this week, to, again, purchase a tray of sliced ham. I didn't open the pack until last night. I was utterly grossed out and disappointed. The meat was NOT placed in the nice black tray. Instead, it was wrapped in what appeared to be "paper towels" (I know it wasn't, but, it looked like it) Once I opened it, the first thought that came to mind was dog food. There were two hunks of pink meat, with NO CRUST!! The crust is what sets it apart from any other ham. Also, presentation is important. So, I hope the trays will return. I don't want to be served as if I'm buying ham from a deli. HBH is definitely much more expensive...
Read moreThey don't even deserve one star. I prepaid for my ham over a week ago and was scheduled to pickup at 9am today. When I arrived at 8:45am, the line was all the way back to the ABC store. Folks said they had been waiting for two hours!! I was able to go inside but was quickly informed by the police officers that I would have to get at the back of the line. I wasn't trying to jump, just trying to understand why there wasn't a line for the prepaid folks and if I could get a refund. Needless to say, I left and after reading the reviews throughout the day, realized that there was no hope in getting my ham as I didn't have 3-4 hours to waste. Luckily, another store (not in Durham) was able to accommodate me. I was in and out in 7 mins flat. And they had a SEPARATE line for their prepaid orders. I'll never order from the Durham location again. Hopefully, they will process my refund expeditiously because I will be asking for it as soon as...
