Where do I begin; this place used to be the Gathering Place. A local dive, with flooring that consisted of aged plywood that felt as if you would enter hell if you fell through them. Why, I would ask myself, would I ever come to a place like this? And why, would other eagletonians do the same?
Well, I ask myself no more, because now the Gathering Place has been transformed into Old State Saloon.
When I say transformed, you’re probably thinking a facelift with some paint, and new plywood. Not a chance. it’s been transformed, like Bruce Jenner. Granted, the outside is still a memory of what once was. While that could be a problem for some, I like the murals of old eagle. It makes me think that perhaps times were not too different back then. Maybe there was even a person like me who was just looking to throw back a couple cold ones after a long day in the unemployment line. He would probably go up to the counter and say, “barkeep, give me a nightcap because I have a duel tomorrow at sunrise out yonder.” But I digress.
Enter the old building and you’ll suddenly hear David Attenborough’s voice in your head telling you about all the beauty and wonder of old state saloon. Nice TV’s on the wall. A pool table. A piano. Nice chairs. Nice couches. Nice bar. Huge place. It’s like a Starbucks, where you purchase a Single beer and lay stake to the table all day long. Except this place doesn’t suck like Starbucks and the furniture is way nicer. So no, not like Starbucks at all.
Old State just puts you in a good mood. Chatting with people there. The bar tenders. It put some dude in such a good mood that he bought a round for everyone there. It nearly made me cry out of happiness and I haven’t cried since 1993 when my best friend and dog Betsy died, may she rest in peace. Betsy would have loved it here. Although, there are no dogs allowed, so I don’t know what she would think she’s doing. I would have said, “bad dog, Betsy!” Don’t bring your dogs.
I chatted for a few minutes with the owner, who is not the previous owner. This one hates plywood floors. I do not recall his name… I want to say Clark? I was a few drinks in. If it’s not Clark, I sincerely apologize. Either way, Clark was a cool dude. He told me they plan on having a shop as well as food in the future. Clark, you did a nice job. You’re quite the visionary.
Overall, it’s a night and day difference. This place is sick and I’ll be coming back for sure. I might even bring my wife with me. This place is worth losing her sobriety for.
So throw away that 5 year AA chip and go check it out. Have a drink. Pour a little out for Betsy, may she rest in peace. And if you’re feeling generous, buy a round of drinks like the gentleman did the other day. Or be a miser, I don’t care. AA chips come and go, but Old State Saloon is once in a lifetime.

Read moreAwesome establishment, came highly recommended for delicious food and drink. However mainly I was told that this is an American establishment that prioritizes American citizens and their lives. They are doing Gods work by utilizing their space to share information with a community of Americans who all want the same things for their families. They want a government who isn’t involved with human trafficking and child sacrifice to satan. They want a government who follows the will of the people not the corporations. They want peace and we are all realizing that those who advocate for war are getting rich off of it and their children are never sacrificed on the battlefield. War isn’t for the general citizens anymore, it’s for the ruling class. Weird how Israel wants us to go fight another war for them. Why can’t they fight their own wars? Last I checked they allowed Pedophiles to escape to Israel without threat of extradition. Are we sure these are the types of allies we want? Didn’t they blow up a ship and murder US soldiers on the USS Liberty to try and goad us into war with Egypt...
Read moreOld State Saloon is a great watering hole for normal people who enjoy American culture, reality, dim lighting, a nice place to relax with like-minded friends, and food using quality ingredients.
They have karaoke and line-dancing nights, a beautiful billiards table, and comfortable seating. It's a really beautiful space.
The tallow-fried corn chips are great; like the perfect Frito in triangle form, with an amazing crunch and some tasty salsa. They would be great with some chili. My only criticism is that they were right on the edge of being too salty. Big corn flavor, perfect fry, and the smaller size was perfect for two adults to have a light snack with some drinks.
The staff was great, Eagle is a gorgeous town, and you should check this place out if you're in the area.
They are being review-bombed by a bunch of antisocial weirdos on r/Idaho because the owner has a sense of humor and is just a...
