My first experience of trying Indian food was at the Indigo Kitchen at the Silos in Easley. It’s walk up and order/take out. Give your name and receive a text when it’s ready. A treat from my niece, I tried the Peri Peri Frites, sweet potato fries, that have peri peri spices, cheddar cheese and a garlic pepper sauce. They were a little spicy, but not flaming spicy. The sauce was had a sweet taste to it, it was different and I really enjoyed the Peri Peri Frites. I will be going back, to get more of the sweet potato fries, and to try some thing else on their menu!! Thumbs up to Easley for this new addition to their restaurants.
Update on my second visit to Indigo Kitchen Sunday June 12, 2022.
On my first visit to Indigo Kitchen I tried the Peri Peri Frites. Peri Peri Frites are fried sweet potatoes fries with peri peri spices, cheddar cheese and a garlic pepper sauce. That was my first experience tasting Indian food. Today my niece treated me to dinner, my second visit to Indigo Kitchen. It’s a walk up and place your order. When you pay for your food you give them your cell phone number, when your order is ready you will receive a text message. The owner was very friendly and helpful, he asked if it was our first time eating Indian food. He was very informative about the menu items, explaining what was in the menu items that we were thinking about ordering. I ordered the Chicken Tikka. Chicken Tikka is white meat chicken that has been marinated in a yogurt, ginger garlic marinade, with Kashmiri chili and their Prem signature spices. It had rice with a cucumber red onion type salsa(I’m sure it wasn’t a salsa, but it was similar to that) the garlic pepper sauce drizzled over it with some pickled red onions. My niece ordered the Butter Chicken, which they have on the menu for a limited time. I asked the owner which item on the menu did he think was the best, his response was “all of them”! The chicken tikka was delicious, a little spicy, but not “ give me a glass of cold water spicy”. I tasted the Butter Chicken, it’s was tasty too. If you’re looking for authentic Indian food, y’all come on over to the Silos in Easley, and try out Indigo Kitchen you will not be...
Read moreThis place is OK. It would be more of an Indian fusion cuisine. One can get frozen samosas and panipuris in an Indian grocery store. It is heated up here and mixed with some onions and stuff. It does taste good. Most of the food here does seem to be pre-made and heated up or mixed up to serve. That being said, it isn't bad. It just does not seem very fresh. The main thing is that it is not very authentic Indian cuisine except for a few items on the menu such as the samosa or dahi puri (which they call chat bombs) and corn bhel. The suaces are mysterious and are called 'prem's signature sauce'. So, it is a take on Indian food, but mostly a fusion cuisine. Between, with regards to another review: in the 1970s, India was not under colonial rule. Also, Indian cuisine and traditions go back to hundreds, if not thousands of years. The South Indian coffee (called Kopi for some reason. It is not Kopi in South India but Kaapi), does not taste like any South Indian filter coffee. Probably because it is not really made with a South Indian filter. It tastes like a machine-made coffee. That being said, it does taste good. It has a decent amount of caffeine as well. I just don't know why it is being passed off as South Indian traditional coffee, which it is not. The lassis are good too but are premade and obviously taste different than a freshly-made lassi. Overall, this is a good place, but not a real representation of Indian food, but more of an Indian-western fusion mix. This can be one of the best fusion-Indian places in town. I just don't like that it is called Indian food. It is not entirely authentic at all. Also, the paneer tikka tasted like meat. It had no meat in it but the taste was definitely like something not vegetarian. Probably, they use the same grill for chikken tikkas as they use for the paneer tikka. So, if you are a pure vegetarian, I would not recommend that. Overall, it is an OK place and probably popular with someone more into fusion cuisine or unfamiliar with authentic...
Read moreMay have ordered too much food, but everything on the menu sounded so good and the smells coming from the kitchen called to my hungry tummy. Husband and I shared the indigo Chaat bombs, masala pork sliders, Peri Peri fries, and chicken tikka yummy bowl. Oh my goodness! Each item was wonderful, well spiced, and well balanced with right amount of sweet, tart, and spice. Mmmmm. The Chaat bombs are light crispy puffs - street food turned appetizer. Mouth watering writing about them. Masala pork sliders were a treat.the sauce and coleslaw on them make the sliders just right. Peri Peri fries...who would have thought to turn sweet potato waffle fries into something better. Um, they did! They are a must have. A little spicy - but only if you are spice wimpy. So after all that yummy goodness, I haven't had the yummy bowl yet. Gonna have to save it for dinner. Love this place! Haven't had good Indian food yet in the local area. This was just what I needed. Thank you so much and keep up the amazing work! We will be back with kids...
