After reading numerous positive reviews, we were excited to give this restaurant a try. Unfortunately, our experience didn’t quite live up to expectations—perhaps it was just an off night.
The staff were friendly and well-meaning, though the service felt a bit unpolished and awkward at times. The restaurant seems to be aiming for an upscale, refined atmosphere, but it still feels like it needs some work.
We started with the shrimp cocktail, which was fresh and flavorful—a definite highlight. We also ordered the Smak dip, which was rich and well-seasoned. However, the accompanying crostini were extremely stale and difficult to eat, which took away from the overall enjoyment of the dish.
The seared tuna unfortunately missed the mark—it lacked the expected crisp, caramelized exterior and felt underwhelming in both texture and presentation.
For drinks, I ordered the strawberry lime mocktail with vodka, based on the waitress’s recommendation after I mentioned I dislike tart or sour flavors. Despite the reassurance that it would be sweet, the drink turned out to be quite sour. When I asked for a replacement, I was told they could only modify the original drink, or I’d be charged for a new one, which felt disappointing from a service perspective.
All in all, it was an average experience. There’s potential here, but a few improvements in execution and service could...
Read moreI really had high hopes for this and was excited to support a newer, local business in town. Unfortunately, our expectations fell very short. Once we sat down, we were greeted by our waiter pretty quickly and got waters filled up (a good sign!). Once we placed our orders, I’m not kidding it took 40 minutes for us to get our meals. The table next to us had gotten their meals and completely finished and paid before we ever got our meals. The manager and the waitress came over to acknowledge “it shouldn’t be much longer”, but never apologized or tried to even explain what the hold up was. We finally got our meals and yet again, we were disappointed. I got the Moroccan salmon, the salmon itself was okay. It was definitely overcooked but fine. The rice and sauce it sat on top of was cold. My husband got the shrimp and grits and they were just bad. The sauce over them tasted almost sour, and the grits weren’t creamy at all. Just not good. I managed to eat my salmon but my husband could barely touch his. I’m not sure what the issues are behind the scenes but I really hope they can figure it out and get better. Small business is so important, and I hope this one will get past the hiccups so that...
Read moreHad a phenomenal Sunday brunch at West End Supper Club! We were a party of four. The ladies enjoyed delicious cranberry mimosas before our meals. Light, crisp and refreshing. Entrees included the brioche French toast with hash browns, the chicken sandwich also with hash browns as the side choice, chicken and waffles, and the corned beef hash. Everything was cooked to perfection. Most impressive was the homemade corned beef hash — definitely not what you’re used to from a can. Both the chicken sandwich and the chicken and waffles had large chicken breasts coated and fried to perfection. Then French toast and the waffle were both fluffy and perfectly moist. After our meals we ordered the Limoncello Mascarpone Cake and the ever popular Bourbon Cake. Let me just say DO NOT pass on either! The Limoncello was light with a most excellent amount of lemon flavor. And the in-house made Bourbon cake was AMAZING! No wonder it always sells out when they have it on special. Our server was the most pleasant young man, very attentive and provided a superb experience. Highly recommend WESC for dinner or brunch!...
