Stewart's Root Beer — Restaurant in East Brunswick Township

First Visit: Stewart's Root Beer is simply the best. Even the Diet Root Beer is delicious, and doesn't taste like diet. The staff is very nice - they're young and hard-working; be kind to them. Second Visit: This time I ate a meal. I got a veggie burger, salad, and vegan onion rings (and, obviously, diet root beer in a frosted mug with unlimited refills). I was shocked and pleased at the high quality and fair pricing. I got the smaller veggie burger, which was excellent, and still big enough that I took half home. The side salad was literally fresher and better than ones I've had at expensive restaurants, and had a variety of veggies, even Greek olives! I also tried the vegan onion rings; I was surprised and happy that there was a vegan menu. Normally, I wouldn't touch an onion ring, because I don't like stuff fried in animal fat, but since these were vegan, I gave them a try. They were delicious, crispy and fresh. My friend got a pizza burger and fries and said they were excellent. Our waiter was so cute, maybe 15? 16 tops; he was attentive and working so hard. He kept checking to make sure we were happy, and he was cleaning everything to keep the place sparkling and sanitary. Next time I want to try...

My most recent visit to Stewart’s left much to be desired, mostly from the staff. While I don’t expect the service to be the equivalent of a fine dining restaurant, at a minimum I expect the server to be polite, somewhat attentive, and prioritize food and beverage delivery over supplemental (non-essential) cleaning tasks. ESPECIALLY when it is to replace an item that was unacceptable. (My opinion is this was done out of spite). The staff was also unable to manage a group of 5 guests who were being obnoxious & disrespectful , throwing swears, slurs, and salt/pepper around. They were at the table next us which gave us a front row seat to the fiasco. I could go on and on about all the things that ‘left a bad taste in my mouth’. I ended up packing my meal to go and paying for items that were wrong as I couldn’t take the server and rowdy patrons a minute longer. DOES NOT LET YOU USE THE YELP CHECK IN COUPONS

Came back here after a while, and the owner was giving a lot of attitude and being rude about ordering vegan food. The girl at the front was nice. Furthermore, we tried showing a yelp coupon that you get when you check in and the owner disregarded that and just said we don’t take those. Maybe this business should not be on yelp since they obviously don’t honor the platform that they are on. i was disappointed in writing this review, since i liked this place before. Would only come back if the owner wasnt here…

So happy they have amazing vegan options! You must try the fat falafel sandwich, vegan quesadillas, and vegan waffles!!
