Tian Asian Express — Restaurant in East Brunswick Township

OK... so here's the deal. I've methodically ordered from them on every day of the week to test for quality and value (through Grub-hub) for multiple weeks. They do not have (through on-line) the elaborate products (e.g. uni) but the basics they have are FABULOUS. Not only are the portions HUGE but the quality/freshness is right on. I've deleted any positive reviews of sushi places in my area to emphasize this place as NO ONE else compares. Consistently the best quality/value offering in East Brunswick that I have seen in 8+ years. My frequent orders? Salmon Sushi (they give 3 huge pieces), Kani Sushi and California Roll (for my 9 year old daughter) huge proportions. Yes basic I know BUT a good base line. I've explored outside of this with them and have not been disappointed but those are my base and these folks blow the completion away in that measure. I am stuffed for $20 (or less) from them whereas I need to spend 2-3x that for competitors. I'll follow up this review with pictures comparing Tian Asian Express against competitors. Was really hungry and was looking for a quick fix without spending too much. I noticed the lady out front was trying very hard to be friendly and helpful to everybody. I think this is a good thing. I got the bento lunch box thinking the small won't be enough. They also have a large but I'm not a big eater. The miso soup and the salad came out quick. I tried the soup and it tasted good. I would have preferred it to be full flavored and less in volume but it came in a big pint container and just a little watered down in flavor. I don't think this is bad since it's a matter of preference. I tried the salad next and it was awesome. The lettuce was really fresh, crunchy and cold. And the japanese ginger salad dressing was excellent. Then the bento came and it was huge! It doesn't come close to the best general tso's chicken I've had before but for the price I think this was excellent. Needless to say I am intrigued and will come back to try...

Tian has been a consistently excellent option for sushi, sushi burritos, and now poke bowls. The owners are really nice people, and their no-contact pickup system is really clever. So...I knew all these things for a while now, but what I was truly surprised to discover was how good their Chinese food is. I'm always looking to find the perfect Chicken and Broccoli dish (I know it's not exciting but I love that simple dish when done right). Recently I ordered a chicken and broccoli bento box, and they almost nailed it! The chicken was tender, the brown sauce was good (not too thin or thick) - but a little too sweet - and the broccoli had the perfect amount of crunch. The bento box was pretty generous as well. It includes your main dish, your choice of rice, 2 dumplings, a California roll and a spring roll + soup for around $10.65.
