I have given this restaurant a 1 star rating for four alliterative reasons:
Poor Parking - Providence Oyster Bar has a large parking lot, 2/3 of which is blocked off for âvaletâ and left largely vacant. Most customers elected to park on side roads once the non-valet spots filled up. Thereâs no reason to have valet at this restaurantâparking is only competitive because it is manufactured to be that way. I would hate to live in the neighborhood behind the restaurant and have strangers parked in front of my house every evening simply because POB blocks off a majority of their spots for valet.
Misleading Menu - my wife ordered the Wellness Salad, which was supposed to come topped withâamong other thingsâcauliflower, quinoa and broccoli. When the dish came out, it had no broccoli, no cauliflower and maybe one teaspoon of quinoa. When alerted, the server offered to have the kitchen remake it, only to come back 5 minutes later with the same dish she removed from the table previously, claiming that the ownerâs wife âdecidedâ that the salad in question would no longer be topped with the ingredients in question (without changing the menu or the price to reflect such drastic changes). The salad was removed from our billâas it should have been. We were not alerted of this menu change when ordering, and the manager didnât come out to apologize for misleading us.
Skimpy Scallops - The Seared Sea Scallops dish, priced at $37, featured a total of four (4) scallops, the largest one being approximately the size of a dollar coin. One of the four was the size of a quarter. The preparation of the scallops was adequate, but hardly worth the exorbitant price. (If this were a luxury restaurant where tiny portions were expected, it would be a different story, but this establishment is far from it.)
Ticket Times - Thirty+ minute ticket time at 5pm on a Sunday is unacceptable given all the deficiencies in our meals. Cooking scallops, prepping a salad, and dropping fried fish isnât complicated. We would have ordered something for my wife to go (since she didnât get to eat her meal), but didnât want to wait...

Only problem....The prices...
$48 for an 8oz filet. $61 for the lobster. Average entre is $30 or more. Even the sushi is $20 and you can't even get soy paper
Location is right off of Post Road East Greenwich and prices are geared towards a water front, but there's nothing but cars that pass by you.
The restaurant is tasteful and done very well. The food is absolutely delicious..
However The prices are ocean front prices and this place will fail due to that. I'm not paying $50 for an 8oz filet, nor $3 an oyster on Post Road lol. I can pay that on Block Island, with the Ocean directly in front of me.
EDIT: 2 years ago I made this post. I haven't been here since this post. I was debating on giving it another go 2 years later and just looking at the menu now, I see Oysters went up to $3.25. And the filet is now $52.95.
Let's not forget Post Road is choppy, It looks terrible. The action is on Main Street and It's basically in North Kingstown but paying taxes in East Greenwich so that's what they're charging us.
10 Prime Steakhouse has a 9oz for $1.05 more AND they have a Wagyu 9oz for only $12.05 more. Which is $7.22 an Oz. Which is SUPER fair. So there's no need for this outrageously priced menu.
Waterfront prices on Post Road ain't it. Something about $52.95 for an 8oz Filet in basically North Kingstown makes me feel taken advantage of. I'm headed to 10 Prime next for that 9oz Wagyu for $12.05 more instead.
Again, this place is nice inside. But that's an insane location to be charging what they're charging and then raising prices even higher. The decor isn't that good for that filet and outrageous raw bar prices. I don't care how busy the summer gets. Drop the prices to a fair menu and people such as myself will come back and help drive profits up. Almost like. 100 people spend $100 each and that's all you get. Instead of 200 people spending $75. That's an extra $5000 if you make the menu fair and drive us people who are avoiding this...
Read moreWeâve been to the location in providence and so naturally we expected the same experience in East Greenwich. Not so much! Wow! Beyond disappointed! The bread was most certainly from a chain grocer. And donât get me wrong I love their bread but this bread was the Italian loaf that is on sale every other week for $1.99. The soup was also from the chain grocer. I buy it all the time. I canât believe we had to pay $10 for a bowl of soup that costs less than that for the container at the grocery store. How can you lay your head down at night??? My lobster wontons were horribly dry, ALL dough and mushy filling that even my husband would not eat and he eats everything. Luckily my ahi tuna saved the day as did his meal (his meal was delicious!). Minor but another let downâŚtables around us were served bread. I had to ask for ours after having been sat for at least 20 minutes. Our server said oh I was going to ask you if you wanted some. Ok buddy! Huge waste of time and hard earned money! Donât do it people!!! The best part of the night...
