Today was my first day trying this restaurant. I was attended immediately, seated & was offered a (sample) a cup of aqua Fresca with ice, a tamarindo & horchata. They were very delicious, tasty & refreshing. I ordered a pozole. The pozole had the essentials cabbage, onions, lemons & rábanos on the side. Three tostadas. Oregano & chili oil. The Chili oil was good & spicy! A small bag of chips and a side of salsa were in the bag too. This pozole was very good, very authentic. Reminded me of home. Love the fact that it tasted clean because sometimes I know it can taste really porky but this one didn’t have a porky smell. I can’t stop eating it. It was soooo good! 10/10 recommend! The owners are very friendly as well :) My boyfriend ordered menudo. It came with tortillas, onions, lemon, Oregano, chili oil & a side of chips with salsa. He said it was very authentic & delicious. I tasted it as well & it was good!! He was also surprised there was so much meat in it, it made him happy! A bonus is that they sell menudo very day! We also ordered two aqua frescas a tamarindo and limón con pepino. We are definitely coming back again to try something different on the...
Read moreWhile visiting a family member in Montebello we decided to get something to eat and found this place. The moment we walked in, it felt as if I was walking into my Tia's or Moms house. We were immediately greeted with a warm welcome and seated. The menu is very extensive with many Mexican favorites. I ordered Menudo and Huevos rancheros. The moment the huevos rancheros were placed on the table, I smelled the beans, rice and the ranchero sauce. I immediately knew it was going to be delicious. I was not disappointed. One of the best I’ve had. The menudo was exceptional, fresh with very little fat and chunky pieces of meat. I also ordered a Carnitas taco which was also amazing. At this point my taste buds were so Wowed that I wanted to try all their dishes. There are many Mexican restaurants that have the same basic Mexican favorites on their menu, and it raises the questions as to why some taste better than others. Why do beans and rice, huevos rancheros or menudo in this case, taste better, after all, they are made with the same basic ingredients. The answer is simple, as my mother always said “Es echo con Amor”. The food is...
Read moreLas Villanas is a true gem — a family-run restaurant where you immediately feel welcomed. Both the cook and the waitress were incredibly kind and patient, making the whole experience feel personal and genuine.
The highlight of my meal was the red mole: rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced — not too sweet, just the right depth of flavor. To top it off, I washed it down with a refreshing pepino y limón agua fresca. Crisp, cool, and perfectly balanced, it was the ideal complement to the meal.
The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, and you can tell this is a place built on love for food and community. I left not only satisfied but also grateful for the hospitality.
Highly recommend Las Villanas for anyone looking for authentic, heartfelt...
