We were absolutely blown away by this new hidden gem!
They're clearly just getting off the ground, so they haven't found their feet with service fully. The owner was running everything and while it didn't impact our experience, i hope they can get just one server soon to make things a little smoother. That being said, they're obviously putting their money to the quality of their food, and it shows.
Our meal started with ginger and pineapple juice. The ginger juice was bold and in-your-face with that wonderful ginger heat. I'm a big ginger fan and it really delivered.
They were out of our first choice of appetizers so we went with what was labeled a salad. What we got was essentially a potato salad. A good potato salad, but it felt strange to have as an appetizer, and I'm not sure i could recommend it for the price
The Jollof Rice was astounding. We got it with goat, which was cooked to absolute perfection. The rice itself was well flavored and the garnishes really added to the dish. i would definitely recommend this for anyone looking to do their toe into an unfamiliar cuisine.
The Kom was also wonderful, and the fish was cooked perfectly and not overpowering at all. It was served with a delicious sauce, and the owner suggested eating it with my hands. She provided a bowl to wash my hands in before and after, and i have to say that it added to the meal. this is also a big recommend from me.
With fresh ingredients, and a well deserved pride in the food they serve, we will certainly be going back, and look forward to trying everything...
Read moreThe restaurant is listed as Ethiopian, but the dishes seem to be more West African; I may be wrong, but I'm certainly not disappointed!
The food was absolutely amazing! My group ordered several different dishes (okra soup with chicken, oxtail soup, goat soup, jollof rice with goat, atieki with fish, and fufu), and everything was so good we ended up sharing. The portions were enormous; we took several boxes home to enjoy later.
The goat soup was extremely spicy for some of us, so be warned (I loved it, especially with the fufu). The goat and fish were beatifully cooked, and we may have fought over the plantains. My teenager guarded their oxtail soup from all marauders, so I assume it was equally good.
The restaurant is minimalistic but extremely clean. The menu is accessed through a QR code, so have your phones ready, or access the menu on their website (the 'Order Online' option will give you access to the full menu with descriptions).
The gentleman who took our order was very friendly, helpful, and patient, as were the other staff we met. There was no place to tip on the credit card slip, and we weren't sure of the etiquette for offering one. We erred on the side of leaving cash because they certainly deserved acknowledgment for great food and service; we hope we didn't offend in our ignorance!
Please, please visit D'Savor House! It is a remarkable, welcome addition to the...
Read moreUpdate: The fifth time I've been here and I live out of town by 2 hours. They're consistently amazing, fast, and wonderful. Food is flavorful and perfect. Seriously, come here and enjoy some delicious food. My and my friend's favorite remains the egusi with chicken and fufu. ❤️ We got chicken egusi with fufu, okra soup with goat and fufu, and degue (which I mispronounced but the guy there was nice and corrected). My friend and I had never eaten here before, didn't know what to expect. We LOVED the chicken egusi with fufu, and the degue... The okra soup tasted good but was not something we would order again because of texture. (we're both autistic so texture is hard for us) We didn't expect to love the degue because of our texture issues but it was DELICIOUS and, texture wise, what we expected so it was excellent. I don't live in town but I can't wait to come back to have more egusi. ❤️ They're all nice, though no one said too much to me, but the food is fast and...
