The Quad Cities has a lot of great authentic Indian food, to be honest, and Iāve tried most of it. Today was my first time getting take away from Indian Cafe, located inside World Market grocery store on Avenue of the Cities. I wish Iād tried it sooner. It was incredibly affordable, even with a small fee for ordering online. We got three main dishes (matter paneer x2 and butter chicken) which each came with our choice of side so we chose basmati rice. Four orders of 2pc samosas that came with chutney. And accidentally (happily) ordered 7 naan. $65 and itāll feed the three of us for probably four meals. The matter paneer was the most delicious Iāve ever had. And when I say Iāve had a lot of matter paneer, itās like a 7 year old saying theyāve had a lot of Kraft Mac n cheese. Iām made of this stuff. It was perfectly spiced, the heat level was spot on, and it was just so dang good. While I was waiting for my order to be bagged, I was mesmerized by watching a gentleman making the next batch of naan. The folks working/running the place were very nice. The food was perfect. Canāt ask for much more. Go spend some time shopping around the world market while youāre waiting for your food. Thereās any kind of world cuisine you can imagine and even I was surprised to see some things that are hard to find in the QC like Lebanese and Greek packaged foods. You wonāt regret it. Thanks for a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreA decent restaurant with potential. However, I had a few concerns during my visit. Firstly, thereās no visible halal certification ā this can be important for customers like us who specifically seek authentic halal food. Displaying a certificate would build more trust.
The place is relatively small and may not accommodate larger groups comfortably. I ordered chicken biryani for a group of six and drove 80 miles to pick it up. Unfortunately, the spice level was too high, and we werenāt asked for our preference. A simple question about spice tolerance could make a big difference, especially for takeout customers.
Hygiene standards could also use some attention to ensure a better overall experience. That said, I donāt intend to underrate the business. I truly hope they take this feedback constructively and work toward improvements. Wishing them all the best for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreYou simply MUST try this place! I always get the chicken tika masala or the buttered chicken. It's a sweet, aromatic red sauce with a rich creamy texture that pairs perfectly with their basmati rice. The tika masala is very similar except theres a greater emphasis on the spices and has a more orange/yellow color than the buttered chicken
A few other essentials are the palak paneer (rich and creamy spinach sauce with delicious cheese cubes over rice) garlic naan, and the samosas, notable for their delicious blend of spices and herbs, the generous size, and the delicious sweet and tangy tamarind sauce (order extra sauce, you'll need it!)
To sum up, this place serves some of the most flavorful dishes I've ever had in the QC, it's become a comfort food for me. They are located inside the world food market, so don't be shy and head in...
