Checkers — Restaurant in East Moline

So where I grew up we had a checkers and it was my favorite fries ever. I didn't eat meat at the time we had a checkers and they closed down loooong time ago.

So last week I planned a trip to find a checkers, get some thrift shopping in, and maybe a hike too.... Anywho

The fries were better than I remembered but The burgers were trash My kids were not fans of the chicken bites or wings or whatever it was, said it tasted funky...said everything tasted like pickles. We also got mozz stix....said it tasted like pickles too..even the flipping soda. Infact they refused to drink anymore than a few sips and they are not this picky lol

We didn't realize they didn't have indoor eating I guess I forgot lol so we were really cold sitting outside.

Before we arrived my kid checked the reviews and made fun of some gal who said the food was too greasy he said it's fast food it's supposed to be...but then he ate it too and broke my heart by saying he'd prefer to.never come back. Which is fine. It was my first time in the Moline area and the ppl there are...kind of...... Odd Like bizarro world versions of normal.ppl. like AI...

My love of checkers food keeps.me coming back, but it never fails when we order. They have an automated order system now. I ordered a regular cheeseburger large checker fry and All American Burger with bacon. I KNEW i should check the order but trusted them because the manager took my order. I drove 48 miles home to realize they gave me TWO regular cheeseburgers not 1 and an All American burger with Bacon. That being said, the manager when i called apologized and offered me a free combo deal coupon and said she would mail it to me. Hopefully she does follow through. They were not that busy, so I don't understand how an order this small can be screwed up. I would really much rather give Checkers my business over Mc Danks, Hardee's, Burgerking and others. Definitely need to work on...

I can't find a way to edit/ continue my review from yesterday, so I wanted to add that my only negative to my tenderloin sandwich was that the condiments were a small splash in the center of the large sandwich.

This seems to be typical of many fast food restaurants, and if you get your order to go, as we did, you discover too late that you need more condiments. I will remember this for future orders at Checker's, and just ask for extra, or some take- home packets of things like ketchup and mustard so that I can add them myself.

FYI, in addition to the standard ketchup/yellow mustard/pickle/onion, the tenderloin comes with shredded lettuce on it, which I wasn't expecting. It may have also had mayo on it. If you don't want those things, you'll have to ask that that they...
