Me and my boyfriend went on a saturday night. This was our 1st time trying the place. First mishap....the hostess that was seating us didnt bother to ask us if were wanting to be seated at the hibachi area or regular dining. We just said we had a party of 2 and he told us it was a bit of a wait. About 10 minutes later another couple comes in and he asks them if they want hibachi or dining. After answering that they just wanted dining, they are immediately told no wait on dining and he shows them to a booth. When the hostess comes back we ask him why they went ahead of us as we were not waiting for hibachi seating either. In a frazzled state he seat us but puts us right by the smokey kitchen doors and a cold draft. Next our server comes to take our orders...he is quick with our drinks but everything else was a mess. We start our order with a couple appetizers and he wrote none of it down and waits for us to order our main entrees before taking any notes. When ordering we had to correct him and double check that he understood multiple times as he kept leaving items out. After our orders were placed we did not get one food item on our table for a good 45 minutes and when we did it was our entrees. No appetizer in sight. One of my sushi rolls was missing and my boyfriend recieved a roll he asked to leave off the avocado (he is allergic) but had avocado anyway. The waiter sends it back to replace but when it came back it had a horrible fishy taste and smell that the first roll didn't have. My boyfriend was sick later that night. We had also implied about my missing roll multiplle times...the waiter understood and said it was o the way. We finally ask again after maybe 15 to 20 mintes and are told he didn't know we wanted another roll and he had not put an order in for one! We both eventually grew tired of waiting for our food or rewaiting for orders to be redone. We called it a night and just left after eating what WAS brought to the table correctly. The food that was made correctly was good but this particular server provided HORRIBLE service. I dont think I would risk going back for that reason. We spent about 2 hours total for 2 bowls of miso soup and one sushi roll before giving up on the rest of our food and...
Read moreSo sad to give Shogun such a bad rating but it was nothing but a terrible experience. I called to ask if they were busy enough to need a reservation this evening. I was only told that it is just first come first serve. We get to Shogun to find out the hibachi tables were closed and only seating by the sushi bar would be available. We decided to stay because we’ve had good experiences prior. We order 1 tempura veggie appetizer, 1 sushi roll, and 3 hibachi meals. I also asked if they could do anything for my sons birthday, he turned 6 today. Our waitress was new (and a very good waitress) and had to ask. Fast forward…we get the sushi but not our other appetizer. The rest of our food order comes out. Asked about the other appetizer. Our waitress had to check…it was finished after our food was already out. We agreed to have her bring the app out since it was now done. So glad we did because our food was completely cold. The rice, which they specifically ask you if you want fried rice or noodles, was not fried rice but white rice with a little bit of egg and soy sauce mixed in. Being 8 months pregnant I was steering away from eating cold meat and ate the tempura veggies. Back to asking about if this establishment does anything special for birthdays….the answer we finally received when we got our bill (after our waitress talked to someone who had been there longer than her) was “No, we only do birthdays at the hibachi tables”. So the establishments hibachi tables are closed, we are served cold meals, and ya’ll can’t even give the kid a a scoop of ice cream or sing to him?? There was a group of 10 in the waiting room, also there for a birthday party, and asked how our food was. We told them that the hibachi tables are closed, the food was cold, and they apparently don’t celebrate birthdays. They stood up and left, but not before wishing my little guy a...
Read morePlease do not expect good service when you go here. Im sure some people have an acceptable experience but we did not. We were told that it was too late for hibachi when the restaurant was open for another whole hour. It wasnt the end of the world but the hostess was very rude about informing us about this and that the dining room was the only option for us. So we decided that we would just sit at a normal table and then waited 20 MINUTES BEFORE GETTING DRINKS. We literally weren’t acknowledged at out table for that long which should be embarrassing for the establishment. When they finally came to us and asked for our drink order, we were told it was too late to put in an appetizer order. Maybe it wouldnt have been too late if you didnt leave us sitting here without anything for the first 20 minutes we sat down? Anyway we werent prepared to order our meals as we just wanted drinks and appetizers so we quickly all decided on something and ordered. Our server wasnt able to communicate any explanation of the menu at all and couldnt understand us very well. We got out food and all tasted pretty good although my medium rare steak was barely even pink and so it was very overcooked. While we were eating they then played closing time over the speakers making us feel very uncomfortable. They even TURNED OFF some of the lights in the dining room while we were eating. I understand that people coming in late is not ideal as I myself have over 7 years of experience in the restaurant industry at a place where people regularly stay 45 minutes past close) but the utter lack of considerstion for customers showed by this establishment is a prime example of how not to treat your customers. Would give zero stars if I could but the food itself was good despite the...
