Davenport's Bar and Grille — Restaurant in East Providence

All good things come to a end I guess.. I ordered my lunch on Friday 1/2 sandwich with soup. I feel in love with the butternut Squash Bisque. I have been getting this 2 to 3 times a week since I discovered it. Friday I did not get my soup, so I called back and told them I didn't get the soup that was an upcharge of 1.99. They told me the manager insisted it was there. I hung up in frustration saying I'd return the food. The manager John I think called me saying he personally put it in the container. I apologized and hung up cause I was at work. When I got home I found a container with mashed butternut squash NOT the soup. So I called him back and told him I did not get the soup, that it was mashed butternut. He apologized and said he would give me a pint of the soup for free. So today I went to get soup, I called ahead and told them I had a credit, the girl said she seen the credit but needed a managers approval. I sat on the phone for ten minutes was told I was all set, when I arrived they wanted to charge me........... I walked out Time to figure out the recipe cause I...

Was deciding where to go for Easter for like a month. Was looking at the menus online. Noticed the menu didn’t change They had some great option under chefs specials/winter menu and lent menu. We decided to come because we wanted something asides from ham dinner we can make at home ourselves. So we decided to come for the lobster Mac and cheese and the Portuguese salmon and beans! They looked amazing! Well nope on menu but not available. Someone else at the table order something else and not there. She stated there was no ingredients to make lobster Mac and cheese? I said do you have lobster she said yes. I’m like 🤔 Ok? Doesn’t make sense. So ended up getting veal because the reg menu and Easter was just ehhhhhh. Whoever decision for the chef specials and winter menu great great options. Just disappointed to say the least.

Waitress however took forever to get an answer then never came back with the answer of no we don’t. I felt she was lying. She came back and said did you choose something else. I said well you didn’t come back if they had them? She said oh yeah...

avocados truly gross - I came to Davenports late last night because my all time fave place - Avenue N - closes their kitchen at 9 pm. Looking on Google maps, I noticed this place had a delicious looking avocado salad as one of the photos on their google review site. Yum! I love fresh avocado on just about everything! So I went in basically looking for that same avocado salad. The place is nicely appointed, staff friendly, service prompt. The salad I saw in the google listing was still on the menu. Unfortunately, the avocados that night were really gross - something was truly wrong - sandy/granular texture, mushy and gross, zero taste (which was weird - they actually had no taste at all), and the consistency of overripe mush. Somehow, still green in color - but definitely nowhere near fresh, probably defrosted from frozen? Who knows. The rest of the salad was meh. Random slabs of generic lettuce. We did make a gentle comment, but I am not one to be a complainer in a restaurant. Bartender was sympathetic but we still paid for the salad. Not going...
