Live in the area but haven't been here in awhile. Glad we returned. A special for the night was a crispy buttermilk fried chicken sandwich with a chipotle mayo, served with sweet potato fries. The chicken was truly crispy and tasty. I love sweet potatoes but sweet potato fries are something I usually avoid because I've found them mostly tasteless in other restaurants. These were exceptional! Even my husband, who doesn't like sweet potatoes (a sacrilege) kept reaching into my basket for more of these scrumptious fries. Best of all was that both the chcken sandwich and the fries came to the table hot from the kitchen! Not luke warm. SCORE! My husband ordered a Tavern Burger, medium rare, served with French Fries. He reported that it had an excellent char grilled flavor and I could see that it was cooked perfectly. He ate every French Fry so I assume they were just as hot as my sweet potato fries or he would have returned them to the kitchen. He hates getting cold fries. I was so enjoying my meal that I forgot to ask him for a taste of his, which we normally offer to each other. He really liked the sample bite of my chicken sandwich.
Our server was very pleasant and attentive but not intrusive.
The only thing I personally found on the negative side was the over brightness of the lighting. I like enough light to see what I'm eating, for sure. However, we found it a bit too much. Kind of looked like Time Square in a some of the dining areas. The room we were seated in, thankfully, was a little less so, though still a tiny turn down of the brightness ovethead would have made it more comfortable atmosperically. Perhaps it was brighter due to Christmas lights in the windows, which is a nice touch. We can all use a brighter holiday season.
All in all, we were very happy with our experience and are looking forward to returning soon for another good meal.
3/2 Went for pizza tonight. We ordered The Fairway which is topped with pepperoni, Italian sausage, linguica, onions, peppers and musrooms. Our friendly server delivered it hot from the kitchen! Good crust. Thin, but with that puffy edge that is great for dipping into marinara. Speaking of which, a nicely flavored sauce is slathered over the crust with just enough of an amount to know it's there but not so over sauced that it's dripping. Happy about that because a common complaint I have is when the sauce is barely noticable except for a slightly visible red smear. Or, when I ask for extra, my usual request, it's swimming. I did ask for extra tonight. It was served on the side. However. I didn't need the extra! I think the pizza chef made his point. 😉 The toppings were fresh tasting and the cheese had melty stringyness. (Is that a...
Read moreFairway is the BEST! We have been eating here for years and they only seem to get better. The food is consistently fresh and delicious, and they have a nice variety of offerings and creative specials to please every palate. I recently became vegan and was not sure how our favorite go-to eatery would respond to my special requests. Instead of being annoyed (as I worried) they doubled down on their awesomeness! They make me pizza piled high with veggies and happily hold the cheese. Their greek salad is always fresh and crunchy, with so many treats I never miss the feta. Another favorite is pasta with marinara and broccoli and/or spinach. It's not on the menu, but they not only make it for me with no problem, it always comes out of the kitchen with a beautiful presentation. Our favorite breakfast is their quinoa bowl -- my mom gets it with poached eggs and cheese, and I ask them to hold those but to please add spinach. It is a delicious mix of quinoa, black beans, corn, avocado and salsa. Sometimes we get it with their home fries, which are heavenly! With the spinach, it's perfect and holds me all day. Really the absolute best thing about Fairway is the team. Both front and back of house -- the servers, hosts, and managers are always kind, patient and welcoming, and the talented chef and kitchen team clearly take pride in the delicious food they serve. We also particularly appreciate that they hang in with us all the way through the long cold winter. A rarity out on this end of the Cape. I guess it's obvious that I highly...

The 2-star review food review is specifically for their gluten-free pizza. Their regular pizza was excellent but the gluten-free version was not thoroughly cooked. When we got home, our daughter immediately said that the dough was not cooked all the way through. Although I tasted it myself and totally agreed, you could simply look at the crust and see that the center "layer" was virtually raw. Reflecting back, we noted how quickly the food was ready after ordering, which would explain the under-cooking. We called Fairway and they were very kind to make a new one for us right away. However, we again noted that it was ready extremely fast, and the staff let us know that they raised the temperature to ensure it was cooked all the way through. Taste test in the parking lot was okay, but it was just one bite. Getting back home, it was clear that attempt #2 was better but still not perfect - some crust was still undercooked and far too chewy. It was then that we determined that Fairway needed to cook the pizza longer at lower heat, not simply raise the oven temperature. (That explained the speed concern.) Gluten-free foods simply cook differently and they're treating that pizza the same as a regular one, which doesn't work.
So definitely great staff and the "regular" food was great, but they need to read up more on gluten-free preparation and they'll be...
