Awesome place for family fun. Decided to check it out with the grandkids on a cloudy/rainy day. It harkens back the Cape when I was my grandchildren’s age. There are several things for a family to do. There is a farm themed mini golf (didn’t try it as it was raining), a small arcade, large gift shop and family style eating location. There are picnic tables both inside and out to eat at. The food service is a counter where you order and pick up yourself.
The arcade isn’t very big but it had enough games to keep everyone happy. You buy a card at one of two machines and use the card at each game. You can put any amount you want on a card but get extra money if you buy $20 or more on your card. Like most arcades the kids earn points on the game machines and earn points to redeem for prizes. While it was a little crowded being a rainy day it was manageable. We had problems with 2 of the machines and they gentleman behind the counter took care of it for us. He was extremely busy and I appreciated his helping us very much. The grandkids won a few small prizes and snagged a couple of stuffed animals in the “Claw” machines. In fact here’s a little secret you may miss. When you first go into the arcade there is an alcove to the right that has about 5 machines. One of them is a “Claw” machines that guarantees you will win a small stuffed animal. It say you play til you win and it’s true. Unlike the other “Claw” machines that have timers on them(30 seconds), this one will keep working until you snag a prize. In my 70+ years I’ve never seen one like this before and was very happy to see it. It’s nice to see the smile on your grandchild’s face instead of the frown that usually occurs when they try a “Claw” machine.
The gift shop was nice as well. It was pretty good sized and had almost anything you could want or expect in a vacation location shop. Penny candy, stuffed animals, hats, t-shirts, sweatshirts, books, games, puzzles, etc. Prices were what you would expect and in some cases a little less than I expected.
Overall we all had a great afternoon at The Red Barn, will be back and highly...
Read moreWe got a late start to the day. We woke up to the sound of waves crashing and wind howling. The sun glistened on the waves of the bay. We enjoyed a breakfast of cooked ham and delicious pancakes. We rode our rented bikes while listening to the soundtrack of one of our favorite shows, "Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia". As we experienced the bike trail, we decided to take things off road for a more adventurous approach. We stumbled upon a trailer park. We went through construction sites, almost expecting to find a cadaver. We biked down the side of route 6 and happened upon a quaint establishment called Red Barn Pizza And More. Food good. Service good. Working gals, TOP NOTCH. The mini golfing was well priced. The family in front of us tried to touch us and we politely declined. After getting the full Red Barn experience, we treked back to Little Capestrano's bike shop, a lovely place. Unfortunately, it isn't well situated as it is located next to a stinky restaurant full of stinky Jamaicans. BOMBACLAT. We decided to walk home, even though it was quite far. It took a while to get home. After our arrival at the house, we went for a relaxing walk on the bay beach. We returned to the house to indulge on Fish and Chips from Arnold's. The Fish and Chips and Clam Chowder were both very delicious. After dinner, we kicked back for a while, before driving to a drive in movie theater to enjoy Jaws. It was good. Now we're writing a review. What are you up to? Write back soon! Remember, clams...
Read morePizza was delicious and workers were very friendly but I am very disappointed with how the owner handled an arcade situation. My friend won the jackpot on one of the games and was supposed to receive 1000 points virtually. After asking the workers at the arcade why the points were not showing up on her card, they asked the owner for help. The owner claimed there was no way that she won the points and she nicely explained that she did but did not make it into a big deal. After saying this, the owner started yelling at her very loud saying she was giving him disrespect and was pointing his finger very close into her face making a big scene. After getting our parents involved, his tone of voice and level of respect changed completely. It was disappointing to see this grown man look so low on a customer simply because she did not look old enough. I have never seen a situation handled this poorly and have never seen someone treat another person with such disrespect. We go to the Barn every year and always have a pleasant experience, but due to the owner’s lack of respect and immaturity, we will not be returning. Very disappointing and...
