If you’re craving authentic Turkish flavors in Edgewater, Doner Point is an absolute gem that deserves a visit. From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted by the warm aroma of grilled meats and spices that instantly whets your appetite. The atmosphere is cozy and casual, perfect for a relaxed lunch or dinner with friends and family. The standout here is undoubtedly their doner — tender, perfectly seasoned, and cooked to juicy perfection. Served with fluffy rice, fresh salad, and warm pita, it’s the kind of meal that hits the spot every time. The Iskender kebab is another must-try: thin slices of doner laid over pieces of bread, generously topped with rich tomato sauce and creamy yogurt. It’s a comforting, flavorful dish that balances savory, tangy, and buttery notes beautifully. Equally impressive is their tavuk soup (chicken soup) — simple yet incredibly satisfying. It’s hearty, flavorful, and feels like a homemade remedy, especially on a cold day. The broth is rich and comforting, with tender pieces of chicken that make it both nourishing and delicious. Service is friendly and attentive, and portions are generous for the price. Whether you’re a fan of traditional Turkish cuisine or trying it for the first time, Doner Point delivers quality and authenticity in every bite. Overall, this place is a fantastic addition to Edgewater’s food scene. The fresh ingredients, bold flavors, and comforting dishes make it a spot you’ll want to return to again and again. If you’re looking for a satisfying meal that combines taste, tradition, and value, Doner Point is highly recommended — especially for their doner, Iskender, and tavuk soup, which are all outstanding. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – A must-visit for Turkish food lovers!

Absolutely Outstanding Homemade Turkish Dining Experience at Doner Point in Edgewater! From start to finish, our visit to Doner Point was nothing short of amazing! The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the staff treats you like family. One of the owners, Yusuf, whom I personally know, is incredibly friendly and passionate about his food — and that love shows in every single homemade dish. We started with appetizers — the Shepherd’s Salad and a sample platter featuring lebni, hummus, and a spicy vegetable spread, all freshly made in-house and served with warm, fluffy homemade Turkish bread. The flavors were authentic, balanced, and bursting with freshness. For the main course, we enjoyed a generous mixed grill platter with doner, shish adana, beef shish, chicken shish, and chicken wings, all perfectly grilled and served with homemade rice, onion salad, grilled tomato, and pepper. Every bite tasted like true Turkish comfort food — rich, flavorful, and cooked with care. To drink, we had Turkish soda, lemonade, and traditional Turkish tea, which complemented the meal beautifully. And then came the desserts — each one made from scratch. The baklava was flaky and delicious, but the highlight of the entire evening was Yusuf’s homemade kazandibi, a caramelized milk pudding that was honestly the best dessert I’ve ever had. It’s creamy, delicate, and unforgettable! The service was just as impressive as the food — attentive, friendly, and genuinely caring. If you’re looking for authentic, homemade Turkish cuisine served with warmth and heart, Doner Point in Edgewater is the place to go. Every dish feels like it was made just for you. Easily a 10/10 experience — highly recommended! Freddy and Janka

Absolutely amazing experience at Doner Point! The Turkish gyro was incredibly flavorful — tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. The appetizers were a fantastic start, especially the hummus and falafel — fresh, authentic, and full of taste. For dessert, the baked rice pudding was the perfect sweet ending — creamy, comforting, and just the right amount of sweetness. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the staff make it even better. A big thank you to Manager Ziya for his warm hospitality and to Begüm and Zenur for their friendly and attentive service. They truly made our visit special. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for delicious Turkish food and exceptional service. I’ll definitely be coming back! 🇹🇷✨

We arrived around 6 PM to find the parking lot completely full, which meant circling the block several times — and anyone familiar with River Road knows that’s no easy task. Still, the anticipation for a good meal kept us patient.

Upon entering, it was surprising to see the restaurant about half empty despite the parking situation. We were seated quickly, but it took roughly ten minutes before our server brought menus and took our order.

At one point, my friend needed to use the restroom urgently but was told the door couldn’t be opened. Strangely, even though it was vacant, no one on staff seemed to know how to unlock it. That was disappointing, but we decided to focus on the food.

I ordered their signature doner platter based on the waiter’s recommendation. Unfortunately, it was underwhelming — a fair portion of average-tasting meat, a small serving of bread, a few fries (about seven), and some onions and tomatoes on the side. I requested sauce on the side, but it was forgotten, and after waiting a while, I went up to the counter to get it myself. I was then given a tiny cup with maybe half a centimeter of white sauce which was annoying considering it was meant to complement the entire dish.

The food itself wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t memorable either. What really affected the experience was the service and lack of attention to detail. Cold food, forgotten requests, and inaccessible restrooms don’t justify the premium pricing — especially with $2.50 bottled waters and an overpriced platter.

Overall, unless you’re particularly fond of Turkish food and want to support the cuisine, I’d recommend passing on this place. Average food can’t make up for such a...
