I stopped by Mitsuwa yesterday to kill some time while my dog was at a grooming appointment and decided to get some cream-yaki here. Unfortunately, the experience wasn’t great. The lady at the counter was pretty rude for no reason.

When I got there, she was watching something on her phone, so I politely said “hello” to get her attention. It wasn’t too long, but when she came over, I asked for the number 6 (the 6-piece cream-yaki). She just had this really annoyed expression, didn’t say hello back, and the only thing she said the whole time was “it’s $16.”

I still said “thank you, have a good day,” but she completely ignored me. Not sure what her problem was—I was polite the entire time. Maybe she didn’t like that I tried to get her attention or didn’t like how I ordered, who knows. Either way, really unexpected off-putting experience.

The cream-yaki itself was ok, not how I liked it personally. The batter inside was like too mushy, but when I brought it home and put it in the air fryer, it was...

Came here yesterday and was excited to have the custard filled desserts. I ordered the buy 5 get 1 free and she told me it would take 10 min. I said that's fine and wandered the marketplace while I waited. She called my number, I got my order, and drove home. When I opened the box I was a little surprised since I saw taiyaki (the fish shaped bread) while I was sure the custard ones were supposed to be circle shaped. Of course when I bit into it it was filled with red bean. I am not a fan of red bean so it was a major disappointment to now have 6 red bean taiyaki that I waited 10 min for (and I live over an hour away so I'm not going to return to complain). Next time I will have to make sure before I leave the stall or watch as...

I don't know why but the outside was overly thick, and a bit mushy. It did have cute different zodiac signs, but it wasn't anything like what I've had at other places... Other places are light and fluffy inside with slight crisp outside....

Also, their custard was so thick and goopy, the consistency wasn't the normal smooth silky consistency I am used to. Fillings are not too sweet, which is how I like it, but it was oddly bland (maybe not enough salt or just not enough flavors all around). The chocolate custard was even more goopy and it didn't taste like chocolate. It was closer to bean mush(?) with a hint of chocolate. It was quite interesting... I don't know if they had an off day or it's always...

been coming here for years and whenever in Mitsuwa, and although they also have some ice creams our go-to is usually their 6pcs cream custards. all these years, their taiyakis have remained consistent with texture and flavors. Once in a while they have new flavors like chocolate and matcha but otherwise the originals are their red bean (fish shape) and creamyakis (round ones). I find the red bean heavy and filling so I usually stick to the cream taiyakis. there is usually a wait since they make it fresh but good things are always worth the wait. well for me at least lol at year 2023 they are still cash only so make sure you have them at hand.

Good amount of red bean paste stuffed in and you get 5 for 7 bucks (buy 4 get 1 free). We actually wanted the cream filled pastry which they said would take 40 minutes to make. That was what I was hoping for, but pressed on time, we weren't going to wait. Their baked goodies are great when they are just baked and eat it while it's still hot. Keep a bit of the styro container open so it doesn't become soggy when your ready to get the next one.

Oshinobo is good if you have a hankering for taiyaki. The taste is quite good, but they're fairly thick, it almost seems like two taiyaki cooked together. I had the azuki filling, which is delicious. It's quite comparable to the average taiyaki you'd buy from a street vendor in Japan, the type that have stands outside large stores. It's not quite as crispy and delicious as the taiyaki specialty shops in places like Asakusa and Dotonbori.
