Spigolo is a welcome addition to the neighborhood! Since moving into my house a few years ago, my consistent complaint was that I didn't have a coffee shop within walking distance. So happy that's changed! Not only do we have a coffee shop closeby, but it's a GOOD one - with great service, atmosphere, and quality coffee.
We stopped by on their second official day of being open. The space is really nice and I like that I can see my drink being made. I also got a peek at the fridges behind the counter, where you can see the quality dairy and non-dairy that they use (dairy quality makes a huge difference!!). They serve Redhawk Coffee here - which if you know Pittsburgh coffee, you know that's some of the best beans in the Burgh.
They were very busy, but the owners and staff were calm, kind, and seemed so sincerely excited about what they were doing. I love the option of the order window - you can place your order inside and wait outside, so you can snag a spot on the cute patio. Everyone comments on how cute the checkerboard patio is - I agree.
I ordered a latte and my boyfriend ordered a matcha, both of which were excellent. The best kind of latte to me is one that doesn't require syrup or flavoring - and that's what Spigolo's got.
There was an initial setback to their opening when a car crashed through one of their walls - I remember driving by the morning after it happened in shock - and they took it in stride, even making awesome merch with a pun about it! I will be getting one of their t-shirts next time I stop in.
Give Spigolo a try! You won't be disappointed. I'll update my review with more photos next...
Read moreTrying new coffee shops is one of my favorite hobbies, so after seeing this one all over my TikTok, I drove 30 minutes to check it out. Here’s my honest review:
The aesthetics? 10/10. Super charming exterior, beautifully decorated inside, and even the patio was adorable. But—and it’s a big but—the outside smelled strongly like sewage, which immediately threw off the vibe and we decided to leave after only sitting there for a few minutes.
The menu was only visible at the counter, so I panic-ordered because there were people waiting behind me. My drink ended up being gaggingly sweet, and my husband actually dumped his out. Sadly, we both did. To top it off, none of the pastries they show off on Instagram were available, so we didn’t get any pastries, and we didn’t have a chance to look at all of their featured items while we waited in line because the menu had the sun directly on it and we couldn’t read it until we were right up at the counter.
If you’re local, I could see this being a cute spot to pop into once you know what to order, but for anyone thinking of making a trip—it’s probably not worth the 30-minute drive. Maybe the hot drinks are better, but overall, I was bummed to spend $10 on drinks we couldn’t even finish and ultimately just dumped out.
Still love supporting small businesses and trying new spots, but unfortunately this one won’t be a...
Read moreTLDR: Small shop with gender neutral restrooms & indoor window seating/outdoor tables w/ umbrellas, limited onsite parking, friendly staff, fairly priced & good food/coffee with almond milk option. Wait time 2-15 min.
Detailed review for people interested: Good food and friendly staff. I think they’re the owners. Gender neutral restroom. Small shop but has window seating.
I’m glad they have an almond milk option. Price is reasonable for a local coffee shop. If you split the price, it can be $15/person or so with drink and food/tip. Wait time if you’re getting food can be 15+ min, but worth it. Small portions, but fills ya up! Drinks take less than 5 min. Probably waited 2 min for our 2 drinks.
We went when no one was in the lot and then suddenly it became a brunch/lunch rush. It’s cool that Pittsburghers will just pop up once they see people are visiting a new shop. Opening day was so busy. I couldn’t visit until a few weeks after they opened. I will...
