This restaurant is one of the best brunch restaurants in Pittsburgh. I know this restaurant in Instagram and go there for brunch two days in a row. I am down to go again.
The design of the restaurant is cool. The dishes are named after famous people. For example, the egg Benedict dishes are named after famous artist and the sandwiches are named after famous musicians. Also, the restroom has photos of famous actors and actress.
For the two times I visited the restaurant, my friends and I ordered the Picasso (egg Benedict), the Einstein (French toast) and Ceasar (omelettes). An interesting fact about the dishes there is that you get salad by default instead of potato, which makes the dishes a lot healthier compared to other brunch restaurants.
The Picasso (egg Benedict) is well cooked and the sauce is creamy. The combination of the egg, the smoked salmon and the scone is well balanced. This is the first time I do not want to finish a dish because it taste so good. The portion of this dish is not big, so I high recommend people to try it out if they are not super hungry.
My friend ordered the Eistien (French toast). He expected it to be the sweet french toast. It turned out to be a more savory one. There are two pieces of French toast. Both are pan fried and they are crispy. In the middle, they put in some tomatoes and cheese. On top of the french toast are two sunny side up eggs. You can eat the toast with the eggs so that you can taste the crispy toast, cheese and the creamy eggs at the same time.
The Ceasar (omelettes) is the reason I go to the restaurants the second day. I saw people ordered it and they looked tasty and in large portion. The omelette is served with two toasts. I choose the sour dough. For people who do not like the sour flavor of the dough, the source flavor of the sour dough is not intense. The omelette is is soft. By putting the smoked salmon and omelette on top of the sour dough, I can enjoy the crispy source dough, the soft omelette and the tasty smoked salmon at the same time, which is super enjoyable.
I also saw a lot of people order the cinnamon balls, which I really...
Read moreThe current rating is very deceptive. I had this place on my list of my places to try for a while based on their menu, rating and photos of the food, but I was incredibly let down by the food itself and now feel very confused by all of the positive reviews.
Not a single item of the four that my husband and I ordered was fresh. I understand that not everything can be scratch made, but at the very least the meat should be cooked to order. We ordered the cinnamon balls and mac and cheese bites, which were definitely just frozen pre-packaged snacks but were ultimately fine. Not fresh, but tasted okay. The main entrees were a crab cake benedict and a fried chicken benedict and they were truly inedible and disgusting (we each ate one bite of each thing on the plate and were finished, didn't bother to order anything else or take home leftovers). The biscuits for each are frozen, the "fried chicken" is the same chicken patty they serve in a high-school cafeteria cut in half, the "cole slaw" on each was actually dry bagged cole-slaw mix with no dressing, the "fresh pickled cucumber" was a jarred pickle cut down the middle, home-fries were frozen ore-ida potatoes, hollandaise was from a jar or can. I truly would not be surprised if even the poached eggs were somehow pre-made because the entire order came out in minutes and the eggs themselves had a strange and unappealing texture.
Our waitress was incredibly friendly and sweet and I want to be very clear that this negative review is strictly because of the food, the staff was excellent!
We ended up leaving hungry after paying over $60 for a breakfast I could've bought from the freezer section of Walmart. What a waste of money and a rare breakfast date. As a non-chain restaraunt, this place needs to do so...
Read moreI was excited to try this place, but not for the usual reasons. I kept seeing so many reviews that seemed fake, following the same cadence and format. It made me curious to see for myself what the hype was about.
The food was decent. I ordered one of their many Benedicts and did enjoy it, but it wasn’t anything that blew me away. Im trying to eat more leafy greens so appreciated that it came with a side salad. But a lot of my family members aren’t fans of balsamic, and unfortunately, that meant they had to opt for a more expensive alternative of home fries. (Though offering a dressing alternative would solve that)
The staff, however, deserves a solid five stars. Everyone we interacted with was helpful and kind, which definitely made the experience better.
As for the AI-generated art on the walls. I thought it would bother me more than it did. It feels like a disservice to real artists, and seeing AI used as “artwork” in a locally owned cafe feels pretty backwards. That said, the open garage door on a nice morning really made up for it and I enjoyed the atmosphere a lot.
Overall, I’d bring family here if they were visiting and we needed a convenient breakfast spot nearby. But it’s not the kind of place I see myself rushing back to every weekend. Still unknown if some of the other reviews are AI generated like...
