Prepare yourselves for thorough & helpful, albeit lengthy, review. Please reference the attached images to aid in understanding details of my review. Hopefully you'll feel it was worth the read as it was certainly written from the heart. First, just as FYI, I flipping LOVE Chicago style pizza pies. I've been known to drive to Chicago for the soul purpose of getting said pizza. Shoutout to Pequod's (admittedly a combo Chicago/Detroit style pizza pie place), the makers of my fav pizza in the Chicago area. Pizzeria Pezzo is, & has been for many years, my fav for the MN metro area. Here begins the review of Pizzeria Pezzo - Edina in earnest: Confident they washed their hands and know how to properly make a delicious Chicago style deep dish pizza & then prep said pizza for carry-out and/or delivery. Their coal-fired pizzas are generally very yummy as well. Chicago style pizza pie (response to other reviewer): I can only presume the individual that posted a 1 star review around August '24 & was accompanied by a photo of a disheveled looking pizza may be unfamiliar with Chicago style pizza pies, and that their (or a delivery driver's [if utilized]) driving was erratic &/or the pizza fell/was dropped by someone other than the restaurant staff. This is the only way that I can empathize with their disappointment/surprise. However, I do wish that in such situations individuals would reach out to the restaurant & include that response in the review as well. 1- Uncooked dough was likely just the cheese that sits directly on top of the dough. 2- Not being pre-cut is standard protocol as the sauce, which sits atop all the other layers, will seep to the bottom of the cut area causing the crust to become soggy, & as we all know, no-one likes a soggy bottom (que British Baking Show meme/gif). 3- Disheveled w/film/protective barrier sitting atop the saucy top is there to keep the sauce from developing a dry film-like layer & to prevent the sauce from moving around too much which would end up causing a crumpled/sloppy appearance. Chicago style deep dish pizza pie (ordered The Wrigley): The sauce wasn't quite as flavorful as I recall from the original White Bear Lake location, but was still yummy & had a great consistently. The crust was excellent w/taste, texture, & form. The cheese layer was great and had a nice mozzarella taste. Will order double meat next time as there wasn't quite as much as I prefer, but that's on me. Coal-fired pizza (ordered The PePe 6"): Wish the cheese wouldn't have gone all the way to the edge to allow more of the "charred" bubbles around the crust. However, I only ordered a 6" so that part could be my bad. The bottom did have the char I was...
Read moreDelicious pan pizza ❤️🥰😉 YES! Sauce is so tasty with real Italian style mozzarella cheese and high end pepperoni! Sauce is on top like Chicago style deep dish pizza and it will look super sloppy if you do not carry it home upright or if someone drops it! SALAD IS DIVINE! Price is fabulous for two people, first order was med pan pizza with salad we split. We spent around $40 plus we had leftover pizza! Second time we had the small for two people and a salad for $23 it was enough for the two of us!! This fabulous gem is right inside the mall entrance to Kowalski's - if you come in from parking lot you will have to walk thru Kowalski's past their hot buffet foods. High tail it through that section to the Pizzeria Pezzo and enjoy some healthy fresh cooked food! 😉😉😉
Matt took our order (he did our first visit too) and our service was SPECTACULAR!! THANK YOU!! ...
Read moreI visited the new Kowalski's store at Southdale, and instead of making dinner that night picked up a pizza at Pezzo's because it offered Chicago style deep dish pizza. I was hoping it would be similar to the old My Pie pizza of decades ago. Well, we got the crust we wanted but the pizza had only what I would call shavings of sausage and green pepper and very few of each. On top was what amounted to a full can of crushed tomatoes. If they had left out the toppings the pizza wouldn't have tasted any different. For $31.00 I expected substantial size and amounts of toppings. Extremely...
