Tonight my fiancé and I ordered the Filet Tips and the California Chicken Sandwich both of us ordered French fries for our one side.
I called and placed this to-go order at 8:05 pm and they close at 9:00 pm. To begin: It took multiple phone calls (11 to be exact) over the course of 30 minutes for a host to answer the phone to take our order. When the host finally picked up the phone we received an attitude and could clearly hear the irritation in the hosts voice as we asked for and placed our order. I was told our order would be ready to pick up in 15-20 min. I walked in and picked up my order a few minutes before the 15 minutes I was told. Our order was ready to go when I came in, that was great. Though, it wasn’t so great when we opened up the food at home. Initially, not much looked wrong with our food. That was until we started to eat our food. (We live on Darrow Rd which is literally a 2 minute drive from the dinor and that’s if you are driving under the speed limit. Time was not a factor here.)
Our French fries were so laden with grease that they were as soft as noodles and were not warm in any respect. We could not eat them. My fiancés chicken sandwich could not be eaten with the bun as it was soggy and complete mush. The bun was falling apart to the touch. She decided that she would just eat the chicken breast with melted cheese on top. While taking a bite into her food she took a bite into a rather large piece of chicken bone that remained in her sandwich. (Advertised as a boneless chicken breast in the form of a sandwich) Unfortunately, this was not all that was wrong. The lettuce that came paired with her sandwich was brown and visibly rotten. The two pickles chosen to be placed on her sandwich were apart of the end rind of the pickle and were tiny. This was truly disgusting.
Now we can get to my meal. Stone cold as well. The filet tips were not seasoned in any way shape or form. This meal was absolutely tasteless. I received a massive heaping pile of noodles with 5-6 smaller sized pieces of steak in between. The gravy had a very mild and subtle taste so much so that the noodles themselves overpowered its taste while eating it. The “filet tips” were chewy and tasted very unappetizing.
I am appalled with the meal we received and I am very disappointed with the service I was given over the phone. I can imagine most people claim to not complain a lot and yet they will find any and everything wrong with their meal. However, I can assure you this is not one of those cases. I have eaten here close to ten times or so. Usually I order the chicken tender appetizer with a side of french fries. Typically, the meals I receive here are pretty good. I may have the occasional cold order of fries and whatnot, but nothing that big of a deal to complain about. Especially with a take out order, I know things may cook and get done faster than the time given for pickup and this factors into the quality of the meal when I go to eat it at home. That is the one of the risks you take when ordering take out.
With all of this in mind and due to our multiple past experiences with ordering and eating food here: It is easy to determine that the small factors I mentioned above had not played a part in the quality of our meals. I have taken multiple pictures of our meals and documented the issues I mentioned in this review and we have our reciept. We spent $31 on food that we literally were not able to eat. My dog got my steak, the rest was thrown away. I should not have to pay for this and this is my honest opinion of my experience with Crossroads Dinor in...
Read morePlace was cold. 65 degrees type of cold. Kept jacket on the entire time, and was still cold. Tip to ownership/management: if you're keeping the heat down to save money, you're driving away more business than you're saving in natural gas costs; alternatively, if you're letting employees set the temp, then your entire establishment is being set to a temp that appeals to a person who is working hard and/or likes it cool and/or is heavy set, which is at a temp that is about 5-7 degrees colder than your average diner would prefer.
Owners come, owners go, but the Crossroads continues to be the same place it has been for the last 10 years, which is to say, a hit-or-miss place to eat with nice ambience. We went here for the first time since the new-new owner change recently on about Nov. 1. I got a grilled Caesar salad and my husband got a Cobb salad. Both had grilled chicken, and both of those were very good. Caesar came out and was oily, blanketed in parmesan cheese, and little or no dressing. Did not appear to be a Caesar salad. There was a balsamic glaze on it? The Cobb salad was mostly whispy greens, like dandelion leaves, and did not have bleu cheese. A Cobb salad without bleu cheese is not a Cobb salad. It's just some other sort of salad. Avocado lacked texture and was mushy. Cobb salad costs 15 bucks. Come on. 15 bucks for a plate with mixed greens that looked to be straight outta the Sprawlmart bag, bacon bits, egg, avocado and about 4 ounces of chicken? Expensive. Conclusion - cooks need training. Same review I gave this place 2 years ago . . . It has a lot of potential that will never be realized unless and until they get a qualified manager. Sadly, it likely...
Read moreOn July 3, 2023, we had some friends in from out of town that we wanted to enjoy dinner with. In the past, Crossroads has had slow service, but we took a chance and when we arrived and saw limited cars in the lot, we went in. It took over AN HOUR to get our food. When our food came out of the kitchen, we heard a clang and turned around to see the waitress had dropped the whole tray of food onto the floor. We had two young children with us that had already been waiting a long time, so we didn't know what to do. In the five minutes we were deciding our options, the waitress brought us our food. IT WAS THE FOOD THAT HAD FALLEN ON THE FLOOR!!! The dishes were all covered with food on the bottom, and you could see where someone had just tried to wipe the edges clean. Everything was cold and disheveled. I was so appalled, I didn't know what to do. Because we had the children, we couldn't afford to go wait at another restaurant. I am ashamed to say we paid our bill like everything was okay. I wish I had asked to see a manager. I've since told our family and friends of the situation, and all said we should have taken photos and called the health board. I haven't had a chance, until now, a month later, and I feel it's too late. I wanted to at least get this out in writing to alert everyone else -- this was SUCH poor practice. We will NEVER be back. If a kitchen feels it is acceptable to serve food that has been on the floor, I will not eat anything that is made in it, and I caution you to do...
