We went here for breakfast since it was by the place we were staying while visiting my family. The food was solid. Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures of the actual food since I was hungry 😂😫

They served chips and salsa with breakfast which is awesome. The salsa was orange in color and chunky. They served it warm and it had really good flavor. It wasn’t spicy at all though which was a little disappointing.

The menu was all in Spanish. I ordered ‘matchacado con juevos y salsa rojas’. It was served with refried beans and sautéed potatoes. My wife got migas (which looked delicious) and my daughter got barbacoa in 5 mini tacos. They let you choose corn or flour with the mini tacos which was pretty awesome! I don’t think I’ve seen mini flour tacos at any other place I’ve eaten. She got flour and I got corn with my plate. I think they were all homemade. If not, the tortillas were really good regardless.

DONT GET THE WAFFLES! They are eggo waffles and they charged 6.95 for 3! INSANE!

Nothing was fantastic or great, but it was good. They had a special for lunch which was cabrito con salsa, so I’m interested to see how their main lunch and...

My wife and I had been wanting to try this place and we did so today. Honestly, not the worst food you could eat. However, the meals were lacking and not as tasty as other, similar, restaurants. The meal starts with standard chips and salsa, El Porton adds a bean dip. I ordered the beef fajitas with shrimp and my wife ordered caldo de marisco. The shrimp in both our meals was overcooked. So, too, was my fajita. Our children had the kids combo with the carne asada tacos. The kids ate well enough to let us know it was decent. I will say the corn tortillas were fresh, hot, and one of the better restaurant tortillas. The service, with competent wait staff, was standard. El Porton is decorated in bright pastel colors and is located on a corner suite that let's in a high amount of daylight. As you're paying at the counter, there are kick knacks to purchase. In the display case are a variety of traditional Mexican candies and snacks. I'll update this review as necessary as I do intend to try El Porton at a later time. Overall, a standard restaurant with no...

Starting off with what's bad, THEY DON'T MAKE A VALLEY FAVORITE, when I saw the menu and then asked about it, THEY DON'T MAKE GROUND BEEF TACOS!!! This is about the only "Mexican" restaurant that doesn't. I had to settle for their tasteless street tacos which are way better if you go to La Mexicana or El Zarape. On to the good points, their pico de gallo is good and they give you a sampling of a bean dip but they give you only a very small amount of chips. I counted them once and they gave less than 15 chips but they will reluctantly give you more if you ask. The ambiance is good and the restaurant is clean, some of the servers are very timid and don't know much about their menu. One girl seemed lost when I asked her about a menu item. El Porton could be a very good value if they improve on these few things. For a great example of the right amount of chips and salsa for two people, check out how Koko's serves. I don't work in the restaurant business I just do reviews, I don't represent any of the restaurants...

I have come here twice with my wife and each fine our experience was the same. Food did not taste authentic or very good in any way and we have tried 4 different plates now. The atmosphere is terrible, there is a smoke/fire alarm that needs new batteries positioned directly over some of the tables customers eat and yet it keeps beep ring every 60 seconds or so and it’s been that way for weeks, maybe months, not sure how that doesn’t drive others crazy but it’s not acceptable in a dinning area. The food also took a very long time to come out each time but given how bad the food taste it can’t be due to the food being made fresh, even their horchata was made from a powder mix which is very disappointing when we’re so close to the Mexico border in these areas, everything should be authentic but it’s not.
