TL;DR-- Save your money and go to Texas Roadhouse or Applebee's down the street, literally any other place than here.
I had very high expectations for this restaurant as it is seafood steakhouse, however my experience was tainted by terrible service, food, and managerial leadership. I understand our party was big, there were about 12 of us and were assigned 2 waiters for the night, but the restaurant was not busy at that time so there shouldn't have been any issues at all. They did well serving us, so I cannot complain about that. However, some of my party's meals were wrongly placed as 3 orders were mixed up. They were going to send the plate back as one of my guest ordered a red snapper and not tilapia which is a $10 price difference. The waiters set the dishes down and when my guest tried to inform them that this was not what he ordered, the manager quickly chimed in saying that they were the correct plates, even though the waiter stated that it was tilapia and not red snapper. My guest proceeded to taste his "red snapper" and then his friend's tilapia which resulted in the exact same taste. Another issue arose, as my boyfriend, it was his birthday, asked for a medium rare steak and was brought out a well done steak on a ceramic plate. He informed the waiter about the issue and the manager once again chimed in stating that the steak continues to cook on a hot plate, which would make a little sense if my guest had ordered a medium steak, again the plate was ceramic and definitely not hot as we were able to grab the plate with our bare hands. My boyfriend was then given a new steak, but the steak had almost no flavor; he did not want to send it back as it had already been awhile and most of the party was done eating by the time he received the second steak. As for my plate, I made the mistake in ordering Option A, which was a cajun boil. I don't know what I was expecting when I ordered just the lobster tail, crab legs, and shrimp, but when it arrived I was surprised that it was indeed a cajun boil. I never would have ordered that at a seafood steakhouse restaurant-- I would have ordered lobster and steak (I could have easily gone to LA crawfish for a cheaper cajun boil and know for sure I would have enjoyed it). You really can't mess up seafood, however my lobster tail was so tough and chewy, which maybe coincides with preference, but nonetheless it made me nauseous. Again, I was not going to send it back as my party had been given wrong orders, including drink orders which brings up the next and final issue, splitting the check. I understand my party was huge, but it should not have taken us an hour for us to receive our checks and then another 30 minutes just to pay. It was honestly the worst experience I have ever had and I'm a very patient person as I understand how difficult it is to be a server. However, they corrected the check one by one and what that means is that each person had to wait until the other check was fixed and paid for. With all that "precision" in "fixing" the checks, guests still paid for other peoples' orders as they could not bear the wait any longer. With all that being said, I will definitely not be going back to this restaurant. If you choose to read this and do decide to go, I really hope you get the best of...
Read moreStaff was very friendly although our experience had an awkward start. We made a reservation for 6 at 4pm on a Sunday which turned out to be unnecessary, there were plenty of tables available. We were seated promptly and our drinks arrived quickly; Water x2, Sprite, Lemonade, & a Hypnorita. My wife loved her Hypnorita and ended up having 2. Although we had mentioned this was our first time no help was offered with the menu or how things worked. I noticed most of the staff was meeting in a back room. After about 10 minutes the manager walked by and said they were having a meeting due to shift change. I understand this although they could have handled this much better since they had just seated a reservation. I don't think a meeting is a good excuse to make customers wait. We ordered our appetizers; Crispy Alligator, Shrimp Cocktail x2, & Crab Cakes. All of it was excellent, especially the Crab Cakes. They came out quickly before the main course. For the main course; 2 steaks, chicken tenders and unseasoned fries for the kiddo, a cup of clam chowder, and the pepper garlic buttered mild heat Party B with scallops instead of clams. It was great of them to allow us to sub out the clams. The Party B was the star of the show although the sausage kind turned a 5 star entree into a 3. The sausage was overcooked and tough, almost like it was pan fried before added to the boil. The Crab legs, lobster, peel and eat shrimp, scallops, potatoes, and eggs were great. We all loved the peppered garlic butter seasoning. The steaks were steaks and the 2 who ordered them enjoyed. My clam chowder was way hot and a layer had formed on the top before it got to the table which was disappointing. For dessert we ordered 2 chocolate cakes and 2 coconut pies. The server said actually you ordered 3 chocolate cakes when he read us back the order. When told it was 2 coconut and 2 chocolate he mumbled as he walked away. Our original server returned with our dessert order and it was 3 chocolates and 1 coconut which he fixed. When we got home we somehow ended up with 3 coconuts. Our fault for not checking both bags I guess. The coconut pie was good but the chocolate cake was dry and inedible. Total bill was $380ish and $460ish after the 20% tip. We knew we would be spending a bit and that wasn't a problem. When you're spending this much though I don't think it's wrong to expect perfection. All in all we won't be returning anytime soon even though we...
Read moreI'm pretty disappointed. Went for the All You Can Eat Lunch. 20 dollars per person. No drink included. Not a buffet. You choose items off a special menu. They are brought to the table. Think Never Ending Pasta Bowl at Olive Garden. You can not take leftovers home.
The good. The service. Our server was very patient and helpful. Her English was not very good, which wasn't a problem for us but might've been an issue for others. The store is nice with a warm nautical theme.
As for the food itself, it is definitely a quantity over quality situation. A lot of the problems came from preparation. Soups and sides were lukewarm at best, bordering on cold, and had to be sent back for reheating.
I ordered a steak, medium rare. Came out well done. Sent it back, came out blue rare. The third time, I decided to just eat it. It was closer to medium well, but I was tired of waiting. Really dont think its setup as a proper steakhouse, as their was no decent browning on the outside. The steak always looked grey and limp. Then, I tried the fettuccine Alfredo with fried chicken strips. Sauce was watery and tasteless. Chicken strips looked like they came out of a frozen food package.
I arrived early and was one of the first guests, so despite the setbacks, my food did come out fairly quickly. However, once the place started to fill up, I noticed the people around me getting frustrated with the wait times for food service. Waiters were coming out apologizing for the waits and offering soups and salads to placate the guests. Doesn't seem like their kitchen or the kitchen staff is set up to handle big crowds in a rush.
All in all, it was not a great experience for a place I had a lot of hope for. The amount of food for the price is a great deal, especially at lunch, but you'd really have to have little to no care about the taste and texture of your food...
