This is a beautiful restaurant to come and enjoy a clean and extremely great attentive customer service dinning experience. I have to be a restaurants greatest critic or nightmare. But this restaurant didn't give me one once of leverage to criticize them in anything. Their pico de Gallo is made the way I like it. They don't put alot lemon on it. It's mostly the cut up little onions, tomatoes, cilantro, jalapeño and simplistic. They give you an opportunity to dress up with lemon or salt your food to your liking. The tortilla chips was crunchy to perfection. Their beans had a bit of chorizo flavor the ones they provide as you sit to eat. Also their salsa tatemado was amazing. Not to spicy and not too salty. Perfecto. I ordered the Chipotle grilled chicken with the white rice and steamed veggies and it was great. Perfect for someone that's not into all that super salty super seasoning food. Even tho I ordered it without the Chipotle marinate I told them bland no salt no pepper it still had an amazing grilled taste to the chicken. It was moist and perfect. I shared the plate with my mom since I am not big in eating big portions. I eat like a small bird. But I did try their lemonade which was fresh and amazing and afterwards my brother in law got a plate of dessert which had a tres leches , flan and churros. I only tasted with a small spoon their tres leches and if I wasn't in a strict diet I would have eaten the whole thing and been very greety with it. Lol. I also got to taste their broth of the chicken soup and it tasted really fresh and not to salty and full of condiments. I hate going to a place to eat chicken soup and all you can taste is the spoon fulls of Knoor or Maggie chicken powder broth. So far this has to be my go to Mexican restaurants in the valley. Their managers in all the palenque grill including casa palenque have the best managers. They don't argue with you about food. When you don't like your food they will swap it immediately. They definitely have my loyalty. Unfortunately I live in Houston Texas and I only come to the valley once or twice a month and stay for 3 to 4 days every time I come to the valley. I which they opened one in Houston and I would get a crowd coming their. My dad ordered the caldo de res and he loved it....
Read moreSo first of all I decided on ordering to go instead of dining in. Was told 15 minutes but took twice that long. The very nice lady that helped mentioned to me that it was cause they where out of pasta for the side I ordered. Changed my sides to fries and the mash potatoes with cheese and cilantro. There was no cilantro on my mash and fries where horrid. Soggy with no salt or seasoning. Then I ordered a kids meal which was just the two tacos for 6 bucks. Says it comes with beans and rice which is great cause my nephew likes them like that. But the menu didn't mention it has cheese or at least I don't remember seeing it. so my nephew did not eat it since he doesn't like cheese in his tacos. My meal was the laredo shrimp and the taste was amazing but as I was leaving I realized there was no salsas so I asked for both green and red, but they where also out of green salsa. I usually eat my shrimp with green salsa and lime, so this too was very disappointing. Not to mention no plastic silverware or napkins where given. My mother decided on the caldo de 7 mares. Probably the best caldo ever but only one piece of shrimp and one piece of fish. The rest was just the broth and a few slices of onions. For what I paid, cause it is a bit pricey, I honestly was completely disappointed with this particular visit. I don't want to say I'm never going back again cause food does have great taste for the most part but honestly other restaurants is where you will see me...
Read moreUnlike most of the reviews, my husband and I were disappointed in our visit to Palenque Grill in Edinburg. It started with the seating. While we noticed what seemed to be open tables in the main dining room we were led to a separated room off to the right. There were two separate large groups in this room celebrating birthdays. It was so noisy my husband and I had a hard time talking to each other. Why would they choose to seat us in this room meant for parties? We were the only people in this room that weren't part of one of the party groups. Let's talk about the food. My husband ordered the chicken fajitas which were fine. I ordered the al pastor tacos. My first one was delicious and I was very pleased with my menu choice. My 2nd taco had tough, grissley meat. I thought it was just a fluke so I began eating my 3rd taco. This was almost as bad as the 2nd taco. I couldn't even finish it. I didnt even try the 4th one. For the price I would think the quality of the meat would be better. I did not mention this to our server so I'm not sure how this would have been handled. The one good thing was even though our server was also handling one of the large groups, she also was attentive to us. However, that is not enough for us to consider ever...
