Edit: 4/27/23
I upped my score on this, originally a 1-2 star experience now a 4.5 experience. The general manager personally took my order for me, even offered me extra items. (I don’t need all that food just me eating but it’s appreciated) personally reached out to me, along side another a week later, I finally found time to come in, very happy that they actually took my criticism and review into consideration and wanted me to genuinely enjoy my experience. I love that this location is being ran by people who love their job and want to actually produce great results within it. Obviously they care. Most wouldn’t even bother reaching out. Food was never the issue. The service was. And because I was shown care. That has improved my opinion.
Original: Don’t like to give bad reviews but slightly disappointed as this is the Closest taco p that’s open 24/7
Went through the drive thru and got my usual casero combo. Asked for traditional salsa. waited for a long time only to get 1. No drink and 2. The wrong food.. now the drink part I got because I went inside and they gave me the cup to fill myself. aswell as the chips they forgot. Got home to enjoy my delicious tacos only to see that I got quesadillas which the lady asked us if that’s what I ordered but due to everyone being way too distracted she didn’t hear my friend correct her and say casero. She agreed yet was obviously still charging me for the quesadilla combo.
I’m extremely disappointed since by the time I got to eat, it was already 4 am, I’m just trying to enjoy a delicious taco before the night ends. I ate the food. Not worth driving all the way across Edinburg for these tacos just for them to look at me annoyed. (Which they did when I went inside for my drink they forgot not knowing my order was wrong cause we were reassured at the window that it was correct)
hope whoever is responsible for the staff at this hour really considers who they have at the window interacting with people. Obviously a lack of control in their team since no one cared not one step in the process from order to when we left the lot.

Read moreMy review is not based on the quality of the food or the service, it's based on the behavior of the G.M by the name of Christian. He has discriminated against two women that are over the age of 40 working in the kitchen. He onky allows the young girls to get away with not showing up in uniform. One of the women showed up to work on time but forgot her appron at home and he gave her HELL!!! He was so rude telling her "Oh i can fire you right now", Who do you think you are"? ect. It got so bad that the woman begin to cry. The incident happend in the month of March 2019. All the other managers just stood there not saying a word, so I decided to give my 2 weeks notice and the two women decided to quit as well. I coulndn't take being witness to the way he treated them. I have a couple of videos after witnessing his behavior with these two women. He abuses his athority with older women working there because he only wants young cute girls to work there. I dont understand how someone so evil can get away with this kind of behavior and corporate not doesn't have a clue. I tried calling but i dont get thru to ever talk to anyone. So if you ever consider eating at Taco Palenque, know that the condition the women are working in is not even safe. It is very HOT and slippery in the back where the tortillas are made, the conditions in the back of the kitchen are not safe. Christian is an evil man that doesn't deserve to have this position based on his behavior. Now these two women can't pay there bills for this month because of this moron that cost them their jobs. Please help me put a stop to this! People like him need to be stopped and face the consequences to...
Read moreThe cashier was great, the food was very good for the most part.
The only reason I'm giving it a one star is based on my last experience, where I saw a table covered in flies and a whole corner area with over 20 flies. I had been prepared to dine in, but after seeing that we switched our order for take out.
The other reason for the 1 star is your salsa and chip police. I witnessed, while waiting for my order, several people walk up after their meal and take salsas with them. I saw several ladies ask for chips and the gentleman let them take as many chip bags as they wanted. I saw another gentleman literally take 5 bags of chips with him without a problem.
Here's the issues, when my mother approached the table to get her chips and salsa, for the both of us, the gentleman there loudly told her her items would be in her take out bag, gave her 1 bag of chips, made her remove the utensils shed already placed in a bag, and didn't let her get any salsas. When she asked for a 2nd bag of chips he made sure to look into her bag to check it before adding a second bag of chips.
I don't know why we were singled out like this. It made me feel like we were stealing and this man was the owner of this location looking down on us. Not only was the experience bad, but the way he loudly announced to the full restaurant that my elderly mother couldn't take any salsas was beyond mortifying for her.
This was a terrible and shameful experience, which I will share here, with my family, with friends, and anybody else that ever brings up Taco...
