Carvel — Restaurant in Edison

I’ve read these reviews about our “little Carvel ice shop” that’s located in Tano Mall, Edison NJ and I’m pretty surprised by some of them, Every time I’ve ordered a carvel cake or one of there “specialty holiday items” for a celebration of many different events be it Birthdays, Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas or just because it’s ALWAYS been a fabulous cake … It’s always been FRESH & DELICIOUS … we are definitely a family who love’s carvel cakes … I did something different for my husband’s 70th BD this time(8.6.24) instead of picking one of there prepared cakes I actually had one personally designed for him …. I wanted it to actually resemble “US as a Family” in stick-figures … “JEN” the young lady who was taking down what I was describing was YES, I can do that for you! Not only did JEN design the scene on the cake her artist touches were spot on from the people, the kids, the pups and our house … JEN I can’t thank you enough, the cake was perfect, it was fresh, delicious and was so much more then I expected … we had 30guest at RuthChris Restaurant in Princeton and the highlight was your CAKE …. Thank you from the bottom of my heart … see you in September for another...

We decided to do a last minute surprise party for my 5 year old. It was a spontaneous idea the day before and we came to carvel in tano mall for the cake. My son is obsessed with mario bros and wouldnt be okay with any other cake. After some talking with nikki and, i believe, nellie, we settled on a design. They were unbelievably helpful and accomodating. When i went to pick it up the next day, it exceeded all expectations. Not only was mario perfect but all the extras is what really made it amazing. Sky, clouds, grass...just perfect. Not too much but not just a simple cake. My son was beyond freaking out. They made the cake and the day better than we could have hoped for. Thank you to those 2 special people at carvel. You made a 5 year olds special day, perfect. We will be back...

Usually I would go in there for the same thing every time, but this time the young man who served us didn’t give us what we initially wanted. I asked for two hot fudge sundaes with swirl ice cream, rainbow sprinkles, whipped cream and a cherry. When I open my ice cream at home, it was just plain swirl ice cream with a sliver of whip cream a small cherry barely any hot fudge because it drip down off the sides and there were no rainbow sprinkles! When I called them to complain, he didn’t really seem to care because they have an attitude in there often when I go in there any other time. He said that he didn’t charge me for sprinkles so that’s how I knew he didn’t put any sprinkles on it! Not such a good experience, wouldn’t suggest going...
