It’s not everyday a Brooklyn man gets a feeling of home, while eating New York Brooklyn Italian quality food, that isn’t from there. But the sense of origin does feel like it came from there.
One very crucial element to a proper pizzeria is the efficacy and the functionality between the kitchen in the back and the kitchen in the front. It can’t be dynamic and it must be consistent in prep, in ingredients and in production. It’s quite obvious that here, both of them work to produce quality food. I visited and received a plate that wasn’t only made with care but was tantalizing with each bite. I was already partially full and I simply could not stop myself from devouring the entire plate. The taste and textures made me pause numerous times.
On another matter entirely, it is a rare thing to enjoy a good quality vodka sauce in the tri state, that has a solid base sauce. So many mess this part up following recipes designed for authentic Italian cuisine when Brooklyn and NJ have their own authenticity. They make it reek of extreme bacon fat and marinara sauce cutting corners. Im happy to say this place takes extra care into making their sauce simply amazing and specific to each dish.
Their various pizza styles scream Brooklyn but also have a well pronounced NJ flare, catering to every type of pizza I could think of, including you crazies who was salad on pizza. But each made with sauces and ingredients to delight each time and creating layers of flavor.
It isn’t in some fancy location. Of all places in Edison NJ, a major vein of logistics for the tri state area. And despite the competition around and having tried them all, this is where I’ll put my money. To the ones who care and take the time to produce fine food for all the blue collar employees, truck drivers passing through and local residents.
Keep up the...
Read moreOnly because I've been newly indoctrined on their specialty pizza, francescosedison offers a good jersey pizza with varieties that would be the crave for many palettes!
Ask for NY style, Leo and staff will kindly make it. A lot of pizzerias have their own set style, but they honor requests. The NY style is a nice thin slice that is crispy, filled with red sauce and topped with a lot of cheese.
I rave about their speciality pizza because there is so much to choose from. Vodka, Loaded Potato and bacon, Shrimp Scampi (I need to try this), and much much more. Each flavor has a good cheese and dough taste, but flavors follow their theme very well. So far, loaded potato and bacon is my favorite.
Try their garlic knots! They put a generous amount of chopped garlic on it. The taste of the dough is fresh. Plus points on their variety of choices like stuffed garlic knots (sandwiched pepperoni and cheese in between).
Another item I don't see often at pizza restaurants are fresh made focaccia bread. You can get that here. Breaded chicken on a fresh focaccia bread is the envy of many other people who see you eating it, heh!
A big plus to this place is the nice staff. Leo and co have treated me we and are willing to make any adjustments based on customization requests. I think this is good and will allow any customer to enjoy anything at Francesco's of Edison.
I've read some reviews previously quoting of the sub par service. Everytime I've been here that was not the case for me. I was well taken care of, respected, and presented with decent...
Read moreFirst time ordering from this place. Have a few italian spots I rotate through, and figured I give these guys a chance. Absolutely the best decision I could have made. Off the bat, the food was piping hot, even after having taken it home and waited about 20 mins or so to eat. These guys do what most don't and wrap their take out trays in tinfoil, makes a drastic difference. Next up their online menu has some crazy variety. So many dinner/lunch specials - super affordable. Ended up getting Hot Antipasto, Chicken Cesar Salad, and Rice Ball Parm.
The Hot Antipasto was practically steaming when I opened it. Looked beautiful, tasted even better- so fresh, and the portions were pretty good.
No portion size however could have prepared me for this rice ball parm. When I say this thing is BIG AS HELL, I mean it! Lots of places offer rice balls but youre never quite sure how big they might be, this place makes em the size of a pregnant grapefruit. Also delicious and fresh, the mozz is high quality, the rice, and beef cooked so well.
Dinner Special Cesar is great too- good value.
Overall Francesco's Pizza has earned themselves a return customer! Well done to the owners and staff!
PS! They offer a free item with every online order!!! Got a two liter, but they have several options for a free item - this place is determined to satisfy...
