The complaint is not about the place, but about a specific employee who answers the door to check the number of people. My family and I (2 adults, 3 children, 1 baby and my husband's mother (a tourist) went to lunch on Labor Day. When we walked in the door, there was initially no one to serve us and we waited for this guy (whose name I don't know), but the manager who made the shift for the holiday probably knows who I'm talking about. So far so good, we told him the number of people, he saw that we had a baby in a stroller, that is, the least a person who separates the table should understand is that a stroller takes up space and that he should put us in a place where it wouldn't get in the way of people. Well, that wasn't done! They put us at the first table near the door and the baby's stroller was right in the aisle (note that at the time we went, it was EMPTY, and there were about 3 tables occupied by customers. What I did, I asked to put us in a place further away so that no one would bump into my baby and the employee's response was simply: roll his eyes upwards and exhale. out of my mouth, as if I was asking him to do something absurd. I calmly turned around and didn't say anything to my husband because I knew he would leave right away. Even though we were old customers, being treated well is the least a customer who brings a tourist to visit deserves. I took everything off the table and put it on a table that would certainly accommodate me and my family and the baby stroller better. When we were about to sit down, this guy came and simply looked at my husband and told us that we couldn't sit at that table because it was another section. WHAT? The place was empty and there were tables left over and we couldn't sit there so that the baby stroller wouldn't get in the way and no one would accidentally spill food on it? Anyway, sorry for the LONG comment, but we have always been treated very well at this Outback in Edison, and it was just the day we took my husband's mother to visit the place. After so many compliments from us, we had the displeasure of being treated terribly. Now a message from me to you, YOUNG MAN who worked on Labor Day: We, the customers, are not to blame if you are working on a holiday, or if you are not happy with something, the least you need to have to deal with the public is to be polite and friendly, two characteristics that I did...
Read moreWas excited to go to Outback tonight. My friend ordered a house salad with 1/2 slab baby back ribs and baked sweet potato. I got the 6oz sirloin with mixed veg and baked potato. we were starving... by the time the food got to our table we couldn't wait to dive in.
Much to our disappointment my baked potato was old. Now I grew up on a farm and am quite familiar with how food is made. My potato tasted like they had baked them that morning, let them sit around all day and then threw one in the microwave come order time to heat it up.
The outside was dry and wrinkled. The inside had that hard old potato taste... my steak was miniscule - which in itself was ok if I could fill up on my sides. I took a gamble and sent the potato back and my replacement potato was exactly the same - except this one got nuked in the microwave for an extra minute.
my friends salad was DRENCHED in dressing .. she didnt say anything but I could tell by the way she was picking at it that it was wilted and soggy. Her baby back ribs were fatty and tough. She had a hard time chewing them. And with every bite I could see her fighting the gristle and the fat was pulling away in chunks...
The only redeeming food item was her sweet potato and the bread basket. we felt so bad for our server. Michael tried really hard and was attentive.. but it was not his fault.. its whichever chef they have in the kitchen...
all in all we spent $50 incl tip and it sucked. we came home hungry NEVER going back there again...
EDIT - sent the above in an email to Outback Steakhouse. The manager called me back the very next day, apologized profusely and sent me a $40 gift card in the mail. Going back tonight with the same friend to see if they can rectify the situation. will...
Read moreOne of the worst experiences ever. My family of four went in for a celebration dinner at 7:30 pm. Our server, Matthew M, took our drink order, which was only 3 ice waters and a cup of coffee. He never asked if we wanted appetizers. We had to ask for one. When he came back, my daughter still needed a few minutes to decide, so he said he would come back in a few. After a minute or two he came back and took our orders. After that, he brought our appetizer. Then when our order was ready, a different server brought it to us. Matthew came back after a minute to check on us. Then about two minutes later, he brought us four take home containers, a bag and the bill. We just started eating. The restaurant was not closing so I have no idea what his rush was. When I looked over the bill, he attempted to charge us for four drinks. so I pointed it out to him for a correction. He quickly corrected the bill. My husband paid cash, but when the change came back, we were not so happy with his service so we chose not to leave a tip. Tips are not mandatory, they are earned. We all left still hungry and had to reheat all our food in the oven when we got home. Prime rib and steak are meant to be eaten fresh, not as left-overs. So very disappointed with Matthew's service. Such a shame that he didn't earn a tip because we always tip very well for good service. If you dine here, be warned that Matthew may rush you...
