I'm a single old man, and several times a week will stop by a restaurant after work so I don't need to fix dinner at the house. I had never eaten at this diner so tonight I decided to pull in and grab dinner before I went home.
I entered and the diner appeared very clean, well-maintained, and brightly lit. But that's all the good stuff I can think of to say.
I ordered the hamburger steak, which was advertised to come with fried onions, mushrooms, and brown gravy on the side. I also was invited to choose two sides. I chose mashed potatoes and cole slaw. For a drink, I chose unsweetened iced tea.
There were only two other booths occupied, and both of them had already received their order. So mine was the ONLY ORDER in the kitchen.
When the order arrived, the hamburger steak was mashed the shape and thickness of a pancake. It was topped with 4 thin slices of red onion, and about half a dozen mushroom slices obviously from a can. The hamburger patty had been broken into at least 3 pieces, maybe four. The serving was not appetizing. And when I ate a bite of the chunk of hamburger nearest me, it was over cooked, tough, dry, and tasteless--same for the copious amount of garlic salt sprinkled over it.
The serving of mashed potatoes were lumpy and lacking flavor, and were about the size of a small scoop of ice cream. The mashed potatoes had about two tablespoons of brown gravy on top. The brown gravy obviously came from a powdered mix.
The side of cole slaw--believe it or not!--arrived WITH MY CHECK, after I had finished eating. I managed to eat that small scoop of mashed potatoes, the slice of Texas toast, and about half that dry, tough hamburger steak. Had the plate arrived with the "brown gravy on the side" as the menu promised, I might could have poured the brown gravy over those terrible chunks of broken hamburger patty and at least finished the hamburger. But the promised brown gravy never showed up during my meal, except for those two tablespoons atop the tasteless lumpy mashed potatoes.
I finished my drink halfway through the meal, but because I had zero attention from the server, I had to eat the last half of my meal without any drink.
The check was a few pennies shy of $16. Honestly, for $16, I can eat at a lot of places in this town where I can enjoy my dining experience and have friendly and helpful wait staff.

Read moreIt's been several years since I've dined at this restaurant. Now that we moved to the other side of town we just don't make it back here very often.
This is comfort food the way you want it to be! My wife had been wanting to eat catfish for the past few weeks but just couldn't decide where to get it from. The she mentioned Boomerang and I thought why not we've not been there since 2019; I have an app that keeps track of the restaurants I visit.
A 50's/60's style diner serving up food you love. Usually we come here for breakfast but today it was for dinner.
First time I've had their Chicken Fried Steak and it was worthy. A much thinner style that what I'm used to but it was worth the try & it turned out to be very good. Couldn't decide on style of gravy so I got both! As a side I choose the coleslaw, I liked that it was served cold! Wasn't necessarily my favorite because I felt it has to much onion for my liking.
Matthew the Assistant Manager gave us great tips and definitely recommended the AYCE Catfish. Not that my wife was going to eat that much catfish she only reordered once. I had to give it a try and as suggested by Matthew it was light & tasty! The first order comes out with 5 pieces of catfish followed by 3 pieces each time you decide you want more.
The great thing about the meal is that it wasn't overly heavy which meant . . . . we could share a dessert! There is only one option which is the fried pie and perfect for sharing! We got ours a la mode which is their vanilla bean! Definitely worth it!
I love the fact that there were all sorts of memorabilia on the walls and this added to the overall feel for the diner. It may be a while before we get back here again but if you're looking for a change of pace look no further...
Read moreI dont like doing this to any place but service started bad and just got worse until i finally left. I like the boomerang in guthrie but had never been to the edmond location and will not be back. My best friend refuses to go to a boomerang and after my experience tonight i can understand why. I cant recall a worse experience at a restaurant. My dad stopped in town tonight headed south on i35 so didnt want to make him double back by going north to guthrie so ended up at the edmond location. Ordered 2 friday fish(all you can eat), comes with two sides, we both got tots and okra. 15 minutes later they brought 1 plate of fish with just okra (okay fine) and we waited for my order. After a while dad offered me some of his while i waited. Manager came out to say we couldnt share one order. Well bring me my order.. 15 or 20 min later and another visit from the manager because some other employee is insisting that we only ordered one between us, i finally get mine, just okra no tots again. Drink has been empty for a while by now also. So now im kind of upset and ask wheres our other side.. 10 min later a small basket of cold tots. When we finally go theyve charged me extra for a side i ask them why they charged me when its supposed to come with two and after everything else to take off the extra charge and they refused. Really not happy with the bad service and being softly accused of...
