Very honest and complete review of Kobe Sushi....
Hands down, Kobe Sushi has the best sushi in OKC. We have tried MANY, and Kobe never fails to impress on flavor, presentation and portion. That's the 2 stars.
HOWEVER, more recently (like since 2020), the management and upkeep has really regressed. For instance, the floors are disgusting. You can see this as soon as you enter the doors thru the foyer. They have a big clunky black couch in their waiting area and under and around it looks like its NEVER been cleaned. I can't imagine what it looks like behind and under it. There is so much dust, dirt and gunk all over the floors. When we see this much dirt upon walking in, it's scary to assume what's happening in the kitchen. The windows are GROSS. I don't believe they have ever been cleaned since they opened.
When they first opened, the place was so clean and fresh. It's a shame that they have allowed it to deteriorate so much. The tables are now sticky. The chairs and benches are gross. The high chairs should be disposed and they should purchase new ones. In this day and age when so many new places are up and coming in Edmond, seriously try and stay in the competition. Cleanliness is just as important as food and flavor. The final straw today was that they had their AC barely on or not at all? In an effort to save on utilities? But it was 100 degrees outside and when we left, the outside felt the same as the inside. On top of that, the toilet was flooded when we went to wash our hands. Seriously, the toilet was flooded. Eew. Who cleaned that mess? The cook? I know they don't have a cleaning staff....
Dear Manager: Doesn't mean anything if food tastes good but it feels like you need a shower afterwards. Please clean up and take care of your place! We miss the original Kobe Sushi when your place was clean, welcoming, had specials on sushi. If you're going to charge us $13-$15 on average for a roll, then you better be giving us a clean place to eat! We used to recommend Kobe to EVERYONE AND ANYONE who asked about a great Sushi place. Now, we are asking people where we should go...
Read moreAfter driving past this place for years we finally decided to give it a try. Initial impressions of the decor were positive. It was warm and inviting. There was plenty of room between tables and the chairs were comfortable. However, the napkins and things stacked in the NW corner of the dining area need to be cleaned up. That makes it look unkept and messy.
We ordered sodas and they arrived promptly. The soda was properly mixed and they tasted good with good carbonation. But after she dropped the sodas off it was at least 10 or 15 minutes before our server returned to take our order. From that point forward, we had to track her down for everything. We were the only table on the N end of the dining area and she was spending all her time on the S side by the bar. So unless we stood up and got her attention she didn't come by.
Okay, what about the food? The rice, filet and veggies were all pretty good. The coconut shrimp appetizer was a major fail. The shrimp were cooked to death and it was like chewing on a piece of rubber. The part that really ruined the whole meal as the salmon. It smelled like stinky fish. Salmon isn't supposed to smell like fish. It's clear that it was not fresh by any means. The smell of the salmon at the table was disgusting it caused us both to lose our appetite. For a place that serves sushi it's not a good idea to serve seafood that smells so bad. I have no plans on returning. For the price they charge they should have done much better. There are just too many other places that do a much better job and...
Read moreWorst experience possible. Made reservations 3 weeks in advance, had to wait 30 to be seated. 45min to have our orders taken. Had 3 people celebrating birthdays in our party. They forgot the deserts, never had a server refill our drinks. The chef had zero excitement while cooking. Had to remind then to bring the sushi appetizers- showed up in the middle of the dinner. Sushi was rice was old, rolls were about .5 inch in diameter. The rice given to one person in our party wasnt even cooked all the way, still crunchy. The magic yum yum sauce was bitter. And to top it all off they took upon themselves to add 20% tip to the 3 seperate checks. The breath mint candy they offered by the exit also tasted horrible. 3 birthday dinners ruined, slow to no service. All around disappointment....
