DO NOT EAT HERE! The customer service is AWFUL from the moment you walk in the door. The hostess who wears glasses was unsure of where to sit our family of four. Completely clueless as she walked in a circle and then asked the girl behind her where should seat us. Please train her, as she is the face of your restaurant. She asked if we had a reservation when we walked in, even though we tried to call earlier in the week and was told they only take reservations for tables of five or more. None of the main tables in the restaurant seat more than four - so that reservation rule doesn’t even make sense. Our incompetent server Vincent did not know the menu and could not identify any of the rolls we ordered once they were brought to our table. The staff seemed clueless to every aspect of the menu or on how to wait on tables. I realize they just opened but train your staff before putting them on the floor. After eating one or two rolls our family immediately felt ill. I went to yelp to read reviews and saw some awful reviews - complaining about cross contamination and health department concerns on how the food is prepared and cooked from a past employee. Other reviews talking about bad service like we experienced. And don’t get me started on the stupid ordering system through the iPad. You order everything through the iPad and before you can submit your order the staff has to come by and enter a code. Not sure what the code is for but it’s a huge pain to find a staff member on a busy night. Not sure why they have any staff members. A robot could have done what these idiots we’re doing. The variety of rolls are meh. Not much variety in taste and are very small. Save your money and try other sushi restaurants around town. This place won’t be open long after word gets out. DO YOUR research. Read the yelp reviews. This place sucks and we...
Read moreWe had 630 reservation for a Friday night. When we got there, the internet was down which basically takes the whole show offline given their reliance on the iPads for ordering. By 7:10 or so we were seated and given an iPad to order. You can order a max of 20 items at a time but our waitress recommended around 10 items to keep things moving. You also can't queue your next order while waiting for your order to arrive, once you order they take the iPad and only bring it back once you've received and eaten your order (or they might bring it earlier if you ask). The food comes out pretty quickly unless you order a bunch of complex roles, the kitchen food (hibachi/tempura) comes out the quickest.
The food was good, obviously some rolls better than others. I liked that you could get vegetable tempura and hibachi (the hibachi was very good), and the kids liked the deep fried oreos for dessert. It seemed to have some similar rolls to the old Kobe but they weren't made the exact same (where's red devil???)
In the end, with a party of four, we got in 3 total orders of 10-12 items in our 90 minute allotment. Our last order was taken by hand because the internet was offline again. Luckily it came back up pretty quickly or we would have had to wait to leave as we paid by card.
In the end, we all got plenty to eat but I can't see us going back as frequently as we visited Kobe simply because the cost, but I definitely would like to go back for a date night.
I definitely recommend a visit for those that love sushi and hibachi and want to order a...
Read moreThis was my second trip to Yokoi sushi. I went a few weeks ago and absolutely LOVED the place. Unfortunately the trip today changed my mind. On this trip I noted several changes, and not all of them good.
At least two items were removed from the menu, and unfortunately one of those was a favorite item, the tamago. Previously they had ginger at the tables but they don't anymore, and it isn't provided on the plates. The tablets, which made ordering more interesting and introvert friendly was inactive. Today you couldn't actually use the tablet to order. You can scroll to use it to look, but you can't add to cart, and when you want to see what's in the Rolls....tough luck, you can't. The service pace seemed to have picked up because of the amount of people there, but this time some of the cooked food wasn't as good. The hibachi steak was on the cold side and very chewy compared to a few weeks ago when it came out piping hot and melt in your mouth soft. They also forgot part of our order completely.
I know this is a newer place and they prefer reservations, but their system to get a reservation isn't that great. You can't do so online, and when you call (the number is a new York number) you never get to an actual human and you can't leave a message. It just cycles through an automated menu at the end. I understand they may be getting a ton of calls, but it makes for an off putting experience.
I'm sad because initially the place seemed really nice and worth the price, but now I'm not sure....and it's only a...
