Decided to try the new Italian place with all 5 star reviews. Well, we were not impressed. We ordered the Mio Trio and Chicken Marsala. The bread they brought out before our meal was excellent. Then the little bus person brought a baked Lasagna to our table. I told them we didn't order a Lasagna, we had a Mio Trio and Chicken Marsala. They said, "Yes, this Lasagna goes with the Mio Trio!". "Are you sure it's this big of a portion?", I asked. YES, they said! Well great, so we started to eat it. After we got a few bites in the same person came to our table and told us "That's not yours, I need to take it back". So believe it or not, after I told them it wasn't ours and they insisted it was, they took it back AFTER we had already started eating it. What are they going to do with that? You can't serve it to another table. You can only throw it away. Talk about rude! Here's a thought, learn some manners and basic hospitality before you decide to open a restaurant.
Okay, what about the food?
When the correct dishes did show up the food was completely bland and unseasoned. The Chicken Marsala had absolutely no Marsala wine or Marsala flavor whatsoever. I think they used chicken broth with a splash of beef stock to darken it up and a dab of cream. Gawd awful is the best way to describe it.
The Lasagna they put on my Mio Trio plate wasn't nearly as good as what they previously insisted was ours and then took away from us. The layers weren't developed or well formed at all. No ricotta cheese detected, just a little meat and loads of their bland marinara sauce.
The Chicken Parmesan was drenched in the same marinara sauce and the breading was a soggy, spongy, disgusting mess. I couldn't taste any salt, pepper, or any seasoning at all.
And the Alfredo? No Parmesan cheese detected whatsoever. Honestly, I think the Alfredo sauce came out of a can or jar.
We won't be going back. I give them 6 months to...
Read moreWhat a gem! This place did not disappoint! I was somewhat skeptical as it looked like a fast food Italian joint from outside; however, I was delightfully mistaken. This place is LEGIT. It was exactly what we were looking for in an Italian restaurant. From the pictures on the walls, the Italian music playing overhead, and the delivery of the food...WOW. My daughter and I stared with the mozzarella cheese sticks and house salad along with the complimentary rolls and while it was tempting to fill up, I'm glad we didn't. My meal was the Mio Trio and it was comprised of Fettuccine Alfredo, chicken parm, and lasagna. Y'all...it hit the holy trinity! As an adult, I tend not to ever order Fettuccine Alfredo and leave that to my kids but let me tell y'all that I was so happy to have had it! I will never not order that when going in the future! Everything was so perfectly cooked and seasoned. I did not need to touch the salt and pepper, or parm cheese on the table. It was PERFECT. My daughter got the chicken parm and spaghetti dish and let me just say that it was essentially enough for 2-3 meals. The portions were amazing, the flavor was exceptional and the service was on point! I believe this may be a family owned restaurant if I'm not mistaken. I've said this before and I'll say it again...DO NOT SLEEP ON THIS PLACE! Run, don't walk!! You will not be...
Read moreWe decided to try something different while we were in Edmond last weekend and Mio Italian Kitchen caught my attention. Well, we'll definitely be back!
The service was excellent. We were greeted immediately after entering, seated without any wait, and our waiter was kind, polite, and very attentive.
We were quickly served garlic rolls that were so light and airy, they almost melt in your mouth.
We ordered stuffed mushrooms in a lobster sauce as our appetizer. The sauce was so creamy and flavorful (I actually sopped it up with my rolls).
Our entrees consisted of the Baked Pasta Sampler and Atlantic Salmon.
My pasta was a mouthful full of baked yumminess stuffed & covered with warm and creamy ricotta and mozzarella cheese.
I "sampled" the salmon and linguine. The salmon was seasoned well and cooked just right. It was moist and flaky. However, MY favorite part of this dish was the lemon butter sauce. The sauce was light and creamy rolled into one, with a gentle burst of citrus.
The Tiramisu was an amazing finish to my meal. It was the perfect blend of whipped creaminess dancing with coffee and cocoa.
I'm not an expert on Italian cuisine by any means. However, I would have to agree with other review comments stating the food is home style/authentic Italian. It most certainly does not have an "out of the freezer & into the...
