It’s 2:40 PM on Saturday, August 30th, 2025. We just pulled out of our parking spot here at SUMO and while I have always been impressed with the food here, today I cannot say that and at $82.89 after tax for two people — I left a $10 tip, although I should've not for a few reasons. 1.) Our fried rice the was barely fried and lacked the flavor it has always had before. Our chef kept asking us, “How is the rice? Is it good?! 😳”, to which I replied less than honestly that it was ok. It tasted like plain ol’ white rice and yet charged for fried rice. 2.) The lobster for my H24 was impossible to chew through. It was like rubber. From the color of the lobster tail, it didn't look healthy before being processed for sale. The shrimp could've been cooked a bit longer and flavored much better. 3.) Because it was just my wife and I at the hibachi alone, I feel the Chef didn't immerse himself into the full experience that I’ve had in the past when dining their previously. I was not impressed, felt more let down than anything — Ord #8Tbl #H6 from 1:51 PM Empl: XIADBY X.

I usually don’t leave many bad reviews BUT there is nothing good to say about our experience here. Table was not properly cleaned. The wine menu book, salt and pepper shakers were truly disgusting sticky nasty obviously not cleaned in a very long time. Wife had steak and scallops. Scallops were actually good steak was mediocre too poor. I had shrimp and chicken and it was deplorable chicken was tough and chewy. Ohh the shrimp was obviously old tough and nasty with such a texture that made me queasy and no exaggeration. Salads had standing water in the bottom of the bowl. Soup was ok. I’m assuming it was the sushi case the glass was insanely dirty (see picture). We ate a small portion of our meals and begrudgingly paid the bill and left. lol we declined the to go container. We will never return and my personal opinion is there is no reason to eat at this establishment.

Have been eating at Sumo for years but hadn't visited in awhile. We sat at the sushi bar and went early. First there were restaurant supplies piled up at the end of the bar, not the ambience you're looking for. One of the sushi chefs was wearing headphones almost the entire time we were there. Part of the experience is chatting with the chefs. Not possible in this case. Our waitress moved about like she was in slow motion. Did not take away dirty dishes, bare minimum response. Sushi pieces are much smaller than previous visits; flavor was meh. Frankly quality of fish didn't seem up to par. Young kids sitting at bar being loud who were questionably not old enough to drink. Whole experience was disappointing. Owners need to put some money into this place. It's showing its age and looking lackluster. We will not be returning.

Because we had a group of 7, we decided to make reservations a couple of days prior to our visit. We even called day of to ensure the reservation was properly noted. Upon arrival we were told that they were little behind and our wait would be about 15 minutes. We watched while parties that showed up without a reservation were seated and after an hour+ we were finally seated. When we were seated, they placed our party of 7 with a party of 3 to make 10 people at an 8 person table. We were all cramped and ready to call it off, but we hoped it would get better. We were handed menus that were sticky and took a look at the drink menu which was not only sticky, but also unclean. When it came time, we ordered the hibachi which, per the menu, comes with soup and salad. However, the wait staff insisted we choose which one we wanted. (Typically not a big deal, but added to the disappointment) Once the salad was finally brought to those of us that choose salad, the yellow lettuce was swimming in watery "ginger" dressing. Probably the worst salad of that type I have experienced. The chief was entertaining and did a good job on the meal. Typically we would be taking home leftovers, but on this occasion there were no left overs. Those that choose the veggie hibachi received less veggies than expected. We will not be returning. There are other restaurants in the area that provide a superior experience for...

SUMO used to be one of my favorite places to eat sushi 🍣 👎 But unfortunately the grade of food is disgusting anymore, service is worthless cleanliness below zero for sure, the restaurant stinks the bar is dirty I was served food with hair in it, I was never offered a remake but a discount which is pathetic, because I don't know what they expect you to do ?? put the hair to the side and eat the rest of the food? 🤢The plate with the hair in it was never removed from in front of me 🤯🤮waiting on the lazy waitress to come over so I can pay and get the heck out because I started gagging 🧟‍♀️from looking at that food with a hair in it which was 10 of them back and forth by the bar listening to music sharing pictures and talking nobody took my order for over 30 minutes the bartender was absolutely useless employees shocked of how bad that place turned out to be unfortunately, If you're looking for a decent service or clean food for you and your family I do not recommend this place because if they serve you food with hair in it imagine what the kitchen on the inside look like I don't know where is the city and why aren't they investigating this filthy Place. Especially being served raw food that is very dangerous peoples could...

A most disappointing dinner. From the moment we walked in the man who was the host/waiter assumed everything instead of asking. We had to correct him each step of the way. He even assumed the name of the reservation... We had people with us that had never had hibachi, so it I was very excited. I can't call the cook a chef, all he did was walk out and cook the food. I kept watching with anticipation for his skills and show, he didn't do anything other than cook the food. Then attempted to give us all the wrong orders. The cook started out with trying to giving everyone else my order, he wasn't being playful he just didn't know who ordered the filet mignon. The vegetarian at the table kept telling him he didn't want any meat. The cook than attempted to force upon the vegetarian shrimp (which was the last of the meat) and was told that he was allergic to it. Right after that he than took all his vegetables and placed them were the shrimp had been cook this whole time. I couldn't believe it. The cook then put the now tainted with shrimp vegetables onto his plate. That huge massive grill and he couldn't even just leave them where they were already cooking. Worse birthday...
